Over the last few months we have noticed an increased number of people who are using locked furnaces as a building material, building walls and buildings out of LWC locked furnaces. While this is a great idea in concept, we are finding that it is beginning to effect the performance of the server. Furnaces due to the way they are coded in Minecraft cause undue server lag, with each furnace checking to see if they should suddenly start smelting every second. Starting today we are introducing a new rule that bans the creating structures or large 'security' walls out of furnaces. You will have 7 days to rectify any current buildings you may have which use this. Once this rule comes into effect, any time the staff discovers an area that overuses furnaces we will begin erasing the furnaces and their contents. This rule effects the use of furnaces as a building material. As a general rule, walls made from less than a full stack (64) furnaces are not considered a problem. This includes all furnaces, not just those locked by LWC. Under the same rule, utilizing signs or other tile entities to 'secure' a building made out of other materials, replicating furnace walls is also not allowed, if you need the LWC secure a room... We have now introduced the locking of obsidian blocks. This means if you do need to build a building that you feel needs secured by LWC, you can build it out of obsidian blocks and lock these. Keep in mind that players have limits on how many LWC locks they can have. Thanks for your understanding, and your cooperation in the reducing of server lag across ECC.
Skylexia - this might need adding to the rules if it isn't already. Basically, the goal of this is to reduce the number of 'Tile Entities' that are used as building materials in ECC. Tile Entities include: Furnaces Signs Enchanting Tables Brewing Stands Chests In general, I don't want to find excessive amounts of these used as building materials. Utilizing these for their normal purposes is fine. We won't be setting an limit on how many can be used, but I will say that you can utilize more than a full stack (64), before we would consider it an issue. The reason I've singled out furnaces is because I've recently found walls of 200+ furnaces hidden behind walls, surrounding rooms just for the purpose of grief prevention.
Quick question, are we aloud to have 2 or 3 furnaces next to each other? Or is this not aloud at all.
Would something like this be allowed, or is it too large? EDIT: Andrew has answered my question in a comment below.
So, based on this I'm assuming every block could theoretically be lockable. Is there a reason why we haven't made them that way?
Is there going to be a set number of furnaces allowed in an area? When I smelt I tend to smelt double chests at a time. That means I would have about a good deal of furnaces being used in a legitimate manner.
Question: I have furnace walls in a 3 by 3 building but i have covered them with blocks on both sides so my walls are 3 layers thick would leaving the furnaces there matter still or would i have to remove them? There is about 20 furnaces there
any chance there a some ground rules on "Large Walls", I still have a lot of furnaces up from my potato smelting days.
Skylexia can we double check if my furnace Bunny in BunnyIsland needs to be demolished. Or, does it only apply to locked structures?
Alright. Thanks for the prompt reply. Are there are limitations on the locking of the obsidian? Will it work in the aether?
Using locked Sign to secure buildings is not allowed either, if you need to secure a room, please use obsidian instead.
