In Game Name: JdawgerWhat part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: VMR ServerShort title for your suggestion: Reduce a few sherds for bookletWhat are you suggesting: Reduce the required amount for booklet to 5 (or 3 for consistency if we don't want to do 5) for following sherds: Desert Temple Sherds: - Archer - Miner - Prize - Skull Desert Well Sherds: - Arms Up - BrewerWhy is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: Sherds in general are harder to obtain compared to trims since we cannot reproduce them. Of all the sherds, the ones listed in this suggestion are the hardest to obtain since they only generate in two of the rarer structures. This also doesn't help that they typically generate with less suspicious blocks compared to ocean ruins and trail ruins. In terms of rarity, according to the Minecraft wiki: Each desert temple sherd has an average of 8 blocks needed to be brushed to get one of a given sherd. Multiply that by 40 (4 different sherds at 10 each to complete), that's 320 blocks average to obtain all the sherds assuming a perfect average and not getting any duplicate sherds after getting 10 of one. Even if we assume that you get three sherds per desert temple average, that's still an average of over 100 desert temples to get all the sherds. Since desert temples are ranked as uncommon structures. Again, this is just average based on the stats given by the wiki. Desert Wells are different with an average of 4 blocks needed to be brushed per sherd. Since wells only have two suspicious sands in them, it will take 10 wells at least to get them all assuming we get a sherd per suspicious sand with no dupes after getting 10 of one (which is still a lot). But in reality, that's 40 wells assuming perfect average stated above (again, with no dupes). Even if there is one per well, that's 20 wells assuming no dupes after 10 of a sherd collected. Oh, and both structures have a 1/1000 chance of spawning in a given chunk (that is after a desert spawns btw). So in short, these sherds don't have good RNG to begin with given they are only available in uncommon/rarer structures that already don't have too many suspicious blocks in them. With the average calculated, it will require way too many of these hard-to-come-by structures to complete these sherds, even in the absolute best-case scenarios of perfect brush loot.Other information: I know we want it to be hard, but this one requires so much RNG (that is not on our side). Obtaining tridents is easier with better RNG compared to completing these specific sherds (for each listed structure, let alone together), and tridents were reduced to 3.Plugin or custom addition: One suggestion per form: I Understand.
5 was what I was originally thinking too, but for consistency sake (since all booklet items are 3 or 10), I suggested 3. Point is, they need to be reduced
For practicality, I found a very large desert in VMR and looted about six desert temples and eight wells. I think I got very lucky with my numbers & flat world generation tho as this is the most I've found in one continuous desert, let alone one VMR week (or mining reset on main). Here's what I got: Desert temple sherds: 14/40 (lowest specific sherd having 1 found, highest having 5 found) Most found in one temple: 4 Least found in one temple: 1 Desert Well Sherds: 4/20 (lowest specific sherd having 1 found, highest having 3 found) Most found in one well: 2 (one time; first time I've ever seen 2 sherds for one well) Least found in one well: 0 (multiple times) I haven't completed any yet, and if I complete some of them, RNG won't be on my side anymore. So in practicality, the desert well sherds 100% need a reduction from 10. Desert temple sherds would be nice if reduced as RNG isn't practical, but are better than the well sherds. I changed the suggestion back to 5 of each sherd after my field data, but we really need them reduced from 10.
With the booklet completion for 1.21 concluded, it's a great time to revisit some of the now 4+ month old VMR suggestions as now is a great time to make necessary changes
