Denied [VMR Server Suggestion] Dont allow use of hacked clients

I mean, we already have a pretty strong anti cheat system on VMR (iirc, it is almost exactly the same as the anti cheat on main).The only issue is X-ray texture packs and auto fishing iirc. Auto fishing is whatever because it has almost no benefit in VMR. X-ray texture packs (which is what I assume is what was claimed to be used with the raids) are iirc tricky to regulate with an anti cheat (this is from experience as a staff member on another server in the past). I understand where you are coming from, but I believe our anticheat and rules for VMR are fine.

PS: the odds of your base not getting raided increase the further you go out. Plus, they increase if you don’t set up a nether portal or set one up further away from your base.

 

It's definitely odd to me that, in theory, I could come on to VMR with no intention of caring about my balance, and just wreck havoc on any player trying to do something. Who cares what I do / when I get caught, if all they're gonna do is clear my bal? I can still massively sabotage any player. If people wanted to really be dubious, they could have people run around hacking and griefing everyone BUT them.

As someone whose base was raided last week I agree that something should be done to deter people a little more from doing this. My base was 10,000 blocks away from spawn, hidden in a mountain, no nether portal, and my items were hidden behind a wall....what else do you want me to do? I agree with asmit that it makes no sense why people can come on to VMR on Saturday and raid 4 bases of people who have made autofarms and set themselves up to place that week. They don't care if their bal gets wiped if they sell placements to other players anyway. I may be biased since I was a victim this week, but I believe something should be done for sure.

On the fence with this suggestion but ultimately I'm going to have to say -1. I just think SA's time is better spent catching players who are trying to use similar hacks in order to gain economical advantage on the main servers.

 

Anti cheat severely limits the use of hacked clients. Plus there's no point in the administrative team wasting their time catching players hacking in a server that resets weekly. -1

It's a huge advantage on the main server. I'll reiterate what Loowaa said. If you sell top 5 placements every week you can easily make 500k/week doing this. Balance wipes don't deter people who don't plan on selling those items anyway.

I’m going to stress one of my points I made with my -1 suggestion with the addition to what @Chundi_Jr said. The issue in question with the raiding of bases is most likely X-ray. You can easily use an illegal X-ray without a hacked client (meaning that anticheat cannot pick it up). The only stronger anticheat that can be put up in the case you are trying to paint is to either ban texture packs for VMR or have a SA constantly check for suspicious tunnels/access points. In regards to the banning of texture packs, that’s very stupid and would have some pretty big backlash imo (assuming it would be possible with our setup). In regards to the SA+’s checking the world for suspicious tunnels etc., as @Chundi_Jr stated, we only have three staff members who can do this (clar, United, and Andrew). They already do a lot of stuff with their ranks, so their time is best suited elsewhere, especially doing this already arduous task in the two main servers and their respective sub worlds.

 

I am extremely on the fence with this aswell, as I can understand the frustration as my stuff has been raided before aswell, however at the same time I’d like to argue people aren’t stupid, if they see some sort of farm above ground, some homes with nothing of value, they will keep looking until everything is found that they can.
There is 2 ways to keep your stuff safe in VMR, that is in an enderchest and maybe use shulkers while your at it, or just /sell it as soon as you have it.

I would also like to point out sure people can use X-ray to find your stuff, however the chances are near 0 that they will find your base if you go 5-10000 blocks out as even X-ray will only render whatever is loaded in your chunks, so either they run around 100% of the time with X-ray or they saw something above ground that already proved you were there, to which I’ll say X-ray or not they will be bound to find whatever you hide.

Again I know the feeling of being raided, I personally just think there are already solutions in place that you could use to ensure this doesn’t happen and where you don’t need to spend the time of the Administrative team which is already extremely busy.
So for me it’ll be a -1

 

Are you saying that 600k for a weeks work and after a few months, a 5% sell bonus really compares to some xrayer making 100k an hour?

Everyone can use it. There is no advantage.

 

If others compete with the sellers, then they wouldn't be getting top 5 every week. Everyone can use hacked clients, I dont see where the advantage lies.

 

And how many innocent players would you ban in the process?
