Hey guys just a Suggestion here... I notice alot of you use Bindings so that as soon as the person joins it says "Blah blah blah" to me these words mean nothing, unlike if you go ahead and write it your self, it means you're not lazy enough to really show support and welcoming to the new user. Also it's just a Suggestion but alot of you your binding are like 2 Spaces down, and when all 4 of you use it, it can make the user feel akward... Idk just a suggestion to try and show that you really want to help, not let a auto msg be sent. Just my thought that this is meaning less..
I have had a long discussion about this in the past. It's not wrong, it's not right, neither is a better way to welcome people. Depending on the situation on how it's used. I agree that with the way people are using it now is just spammy/not as welcoming as it is written out. But if it was done like I had used it in the past, it's not nearly as bad, and still, very welcoming, for reasons I won't give, or this post will be 15 paragraphs long.
Haha like i said, it's fine, it just makes the user feel more welcome and not just another "New User".
Yeah... I'd like if users didn't make keybinds that greeted users with insanely long messages. Just a simple, "Welcome to ECC, ____!" is all you need. However, if you bother to make a keybind for that... You're either lazy or trying to welcome users more as a competition, rather than to actually be nice. :b There shouldn't be a rule about it unless it becomes out of hand, but I'd like to see less huge welcome messages. I'd honestly feel really strange and think users didn't care that I joined, if I was bombarded with several huge welcomes.
Yes i to think it should not be against the rules, but just as a sign that you really do care, and are not just lazy and do it to show that you "Care".
