Hello, jakeyray18 just announced some changes to town flags. Reading the wiki, I have a question about the interact flag: is there a complete list of all the blocks that it prevents non-members to interact with? It reads What does "etc." precisely mean? Like, for istance: what about signs? Or furnaces? My problem is in particular that I want to prevent nonbembers from opening chests (mostly to avoid lwc looting), but don't want to prevent them from buying/selling using trade signs. But a general answer covering all cases would be greatly appreciated! Now another question, regarding this time the use "flag": does it include also trapdoors? And pressure plates? Thank you
The interact flag shouldn't prohibit sign interactions (trade, disposal, life, etc), but does prohibit block interactions (chest, furnace, pressure plate, trapdoor, door, lever, button, crafting tables, brewing stands, dispensers, armor stands, anvils, etc) Basically if it's a block you interact with, it can't be used by nonmembers. Regarding the use flag: It's essentially the same as interact but it doesn't protect mobs or prohibit chest access from nonmembers.
Small question, @nicit6. Does the new interact flag also override a /cpublic or /cdonation chest? I know that the use flag used to do this, which makes those 2 commands rather useless in a town with that flag.
If so, the use flag is now totally worthless. I mean: the interaction flag prohibits lwc looting and animal griefing/stealing (wich is the whole point of 99% applications) and, as an unwanted side effect, prohibits harmless behaviour such as opening doors or pushing buttons (so visitors to your town can basically do nothing, not even just have a look around). The use flag has now the unwanted side effects while it doesn't protect from lwc looting: no one is going to make use of such a flag. Wouldn't it have been better to introduce a flag that prohibits only interaction with blocks with an internal inventory (chests, furnaces) while allowing everything else (which is what most people want)?
The thing is this isn't something developed privately for ECC. We don't have control of what gets added and what doesn't, we can only give input. I agree with what you're saying but it is simply not in our control.
I know, it was not meant to be a criticism on ECC, though I may not have made this clear. @JamieSinn I see you're a developer, does that mean that you might be able to implement it on ECC with a custom plugin? Just sayin (what does "pr" stand for btw? "plugin r..." someething?)
I finally had the interact flag set to deny in my town, and I've been doing some tests: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/what-the-interact-flag-does-and-what-doesnt.137520/
@Nicit6 I think we should have some updated information on the interact flag in our wiki regarding its use.
