Are you able to own a town (buy one from a player and be the mayor of that town) as a resident? or do you have to be a mayor in order to buy a town from another player?
When players say they are selling a town they mean they are giving you to town on a trust basis. You are technical co-mayor of the town and don't get the mayor tag or perks. You also can't apply for town features and the mayor may, if they wish, takes the town back at any point.
