Ive read through the threads to learn about what makes a town an official city... but it seems like they have to be squares or rectangles.... My thing is that I have secretly been building an underground city for the past few days, and have dug out about 25,000 blocks already.... Its a small series of tunnels that lead to big, open rooms such as a Courtroom, garden, etc. And an area to build homes in the ground, and soon adding a 50x50x16 room for people to build homes in an open space.... My problem is that since its not exactly a square or rectangular area is that it wont be approved as an official city and cant be placed under Protection because of its awkward shape.... I would like to know if it would be possible to make it protected even with its shape. If not, what are some things I could do to make it Protectable? If you need to see the actual thing to decide and give recommendation, just let me know. I know theres tons of cities already, but I think that this kind of underground thing has the potential to become quite unique. Ive been working on it by myself for a few days now, but i'd say im barely 1/3 of the way done with my plans for this place. I would appreciate some feedback on my first huge Minecraft project
As far as I can tell, you'd just have to protect area out and around it. o.o Like, Okeanos isn't really square, but it has protection out around it. Same goes for Valhalla, which is currently just a circular town.
The rectangle/square could be 200x200 and encompass your town... The town doesn't have to fit the protected area exactly... Unless it's bigger than 200x200 >_> (*Was ninja'd)
Well, Im just worried cause theres literally no part of this city above ground except for an entranceway, and that it would be wasting quite alot of groundspace xD although its below just a desert/mountain area.... And the fact that it costs a total of almost $90,000 to become a mayor and get Protection... and I only have $5000-something D: Which is quite a large problem for me....
Undertown had no 'real' parts above ground, besides the opening to the stairs... Well, until they made 'UpperUndertown'... The protection is from sky to bedrock so you don't have worry about that
Alright, so getting the protection shouldnt be a problem... and UpperUndertown just sounds ironic.... defeats the purpose. But that city was WorldEdit'd, i would assume, which means mine would be quite unique... I learned that there was already an underground city after I spent 7 hours digging out mine So I thought all that I did was pointless.... But i just get the feeling that this wont be a good city since the lack of open space will uninterest people from building a home... But its worth a shot! Ive already spent over 16 hours on this project xD and over 50 iron picks.... Thanks for the feedback. If this thing becomes a town, you can have a discount on a plot
i wish you luck, Besides help from others i recomend doing some hardcore farming or major mining for Mayor + Portal, And along with that you'll get donations
EGO, I dont need to beat up hookers like Vince the ShamWow guy to get money! D: And im clearing out an 80,000 cubic meter room at diamond/RS/Lapis level that should rake in truckloads of money and Mack, I will not be asking for, or accepting donations People shouldnt give me money to build my own place, especially when their donated money might go towards cheap beer and $10 hookers D:
