Minecraft Name: kvbillo Suggestion: lower town-spawn portal price or town-town price Reason: with the price of mayor included to get a good plot town started is 160k as u need a portal, most new mayors struggle to get the 85k then the need 75k to get to a plot sellable time, its just to much. this i think is leading to less plot towns and more privte towns, i know i have two private ones because of portals prices, which is leading to less hosues and less people staying on the server. also with town-town portals 50k is a lot to link to two towns this means if you have payed 160k for first town and portals at add 230k(180k+50k)390k for 2 towns and a portal one to sawn and one to the other town. i know though its taking money out of the server so this will be rejected as people still pay the price. -1, a portal isn't exactly necessary in a town and there cant be mass amounts of them. Portals are meant for people who put lots of effort into their town, plus it's not like nobody is buying portals because they are so expensive.
Definatly +1, the portal to simply get to your town should be worth almost as much as the town itself! I really hope andrew will consider lower the price

Bunch your towns together and make a nation with 1 portal with many linking For example: X=Town O=Capitol Town w/ portal AND/OR Town to town portals X X X X O X X X X --------- X O X X --------- X O --------- And much much more.................. Also you could get co-mayors willing to chip in or just buy an old town.
Do you really think that a portal isn't essential? If you don't have TP, there's no way to get people into your town. It raises interest, and you also can't get large amounts of people in your town at once, even if you do have TP. Most people without multihome will reject a city's offer without a portal simply because they can't get there easily. You don't know the significance of a portal because you don't have a mayor experience. +1 for portal idea
I agree, sjd you don't really have mayor experience, and you get most of your money in the lotto... Try making 170k just so you can have a town and a portal by farming or in hobos case, selling huge hardly worked on buildings.
It's easy to make money, getting enough money for a town portal takes around 10-12 hours of mining, and around 6-8 hours of farming.
Don't be in such a rush to sell plots then, put effort into your town and sell the plots for more to cover the cost.
Portals are necessary for builders who need to easily get to their plot. @myminecrafter, i have been building my town for hmm maybe 4 months now? I am the only member and i'm almost ready to open it up, so i actually have put alot of time and effort into my town, but now i have to make the money to basically buy mayor again for a portal after spending 150k+ on farm/buildings/etc.
While I understand your points, I think we all have to remember that we play on EcoCityCraft... a hardcore economy server. It's already extremely easy to make money, so i'm going to say that I think portal prices should be increased! Yes, I said it I know how exciting it can be to have a town and want to get it completely ready to sell plots and have a thriving town on ECC, but with that comes the fact that you need to put lots of hard work into it. Who knows, maybe one day YOUR town will be featured on the front page of ECC. Work hard, and you will feel better about your projects
I'm not saying you haven't worked hard building your town. I have been building my town for over a month too.
+1 i have got mayor recently there was a farm in the wild i would always go to it got grifed i cant make alot of money the 85k took so much time now i need another 75k to even sell plots i think that even though the portals are for players who love ecc and spend there time they just spent 85k give them a break i would say 20-25k portal
this may work for newer mayors, but my first town is is rubish postions as i wanted a free portal(south gate)(its gone now) so when i gave to pres i build somewhere diffrent, in a better location. and u cant just move your town. okay then if portals are good price then mayor should be more the is NO way a portal is worth as much as mayor!
Again, the prices are fine the way they are. Portals are usually the main feature of the town, the thing that differentiates a good town from a bad one. It shows that your town is active, dedicated to the server, and ready to expand. Lowering the price would remove this exclusivity of portals and removes the challenge one has to face to build a town. One does not simply make carve out 10x10 plots and have a successful town. It takes an investment.
