This is a subplot in the town of Air named 'airtestban' (3839/81/8656 XYZ) with a single flag: "entry -g MEMBERS deny". The purpose of this flag is to refuse entry for anyone added as a member of the plot. It works 100% perfectly for every player added to that plot as a member by correctly refusing entry into the region. Spoiler: Copy/paste information for convenience /rg i airtestban /tpc 3839 8662 Issue: It bans me from the plot as well. I am not a member/owner of this plot or any other plots in the town. I am listed as owner of the overall town. further investigation: If i set that flag for the town of Air, then all owners will be refused entry into the town even though they are not members of the town (they are owners, not members). @HyruleanHero has also tested this flag and confirmed it to not be working properly for town owners. Is this a known issue/solvable?
Not 100% sure on ban regions, but try adding a "-g owners entry allow" to the parent region (i.e. the town itself), or to the ban region (and then adding yourself as an owner to the ban region)
I believe the ban region needs the entry deny flag for members so we can select which players are to be denied entry. This means only 1 entry flag can be placed for that region and having a second entry flag for ‘owners allow’ will not be possible also, the flag “should” only deny members listed in that plot as ones who to target when denying entry. So by logic, owners should already be given entry perms, seems to be an error with the flag itself rather than the setup of the town
To elaborate on my own findings, I put the entry -g members deny on a town without any sub-regions and it affects me, but I'm only listed as an owner of the town. Even if there is an issue with using this and having sub-regions, it doesn't make sense to impact an owner of a town which doesn't have any other regions within it.
So under my experience when it comes to ban regions, They only really work of you have no additional regions set except say air and air ban, as soon as more are tossed in the mix you will not be able to enter at all regardless of owner perms, i believe suggestions for actual ban regions were made within the plugin however it did not end up happening so this is the closest there is, For references look at cove and coveban.
Still doesn't explain what I encountered in my previous post, unless it requires the sub-region to work. Regardless, the member part is broken and is effecting owners somehow.
Flags and perms travel downward. Rank travels upward. If you ban members all members and higher rank are banned for that plot. If you are a member/owwner of the town you are the same rank in the plot unless set to something higher in the plot. Therefore all members + of town are banned as well. I did not read the thread. I just knew this one!
You can test by doing deny for -g owners and make yourself a member of the plot. Let us know if that works is a thought by me. If your goal is to deny everyone but owners use -g nonowners
When wanting to ensure members don’t access your town you need to use the Non_Member Deny flag, when doing member you are considered a member by being a owner of the town as the “perms” travel down. This has been the same way I believe the entire time, Only time I’ve seen the member deny flag is for a ban region.
So you’re saying that I need to add myself as a owner of the plot and that should reset my status as owner in the town? this was tested and did not work
No. Your status in town is applied to every plot. The group you set with -g is the lowest level a setting applies to. So flags that affect members auto affect owners. I checked my suggestion it won't work.
There is definitely something broken here. @UnitedStates2 please fiddle with this and see what you can come up with. If your conclusion is that it's a bug, just as mine, let me know via Discord.
@UnitedStates2 in game now. hit me up and I'll help you figure it out rq. tested this for you united. here are my findings. entry deny : member or owner of plot or town bypasses entry -g members deny : denies all members and owners of town or plot. my understanding is deny should deny everyone...period. deny -g members should only affect members not owners hope that helps.
Owners are members. There is no bug here. This is simply how WG works. Yes, it makes town bans considerably more difficult. But there isn't any actual issue.
My only issue with that is Entry deny Without any modifiers should block all entry even owners unless I missed something.
Is it possible to make Owner and Member two distinct ranks or would that mess too many things up? Or at the very least, prevent the ability to ban an owner cause that doesn't make sense
No, it's not possible. We do not develop the code of this plugin nor will we ever fork such a major project. The developer himself is not willing to fix/alter this.
After Andrews reply, check out the cove/coveban regions on main when it comes to a ban region, mind you a ban region only works if there are No additional regions to a town otherwise nobody not even a owner can enter that third region. Any further questions send me a message on discord, or I will return from vacation on the 11th and would not mind walking you through it or checking out what you are trying to do.
