It has happened to many of us. You're underground, enjoying mining with the awesome new pickax you got, when you press Q. Your pickax flies out of your hand, into the lava, and your stomach gets a sick feeling as you hear that dreaded *sizzle* sound. Or maybe you're at the spawn, running to a snipe after pumpkin farming with your eff V ax . You mean to press "W" twice but hit "Q". Your ax rockets forward right into the builder ahead of you and is now his. This thread is dedicated to those horrible moments where we learned the hard way to remap the "Drop" key to something other than "Q" What are the most valuable enchanted items you have "thrown" away accidentally?
I threw an eff V, unbreak III, fortune iii pick into a stream while mining. I rushed forward to grab it but watched helplessly as it floated into lava. Backspace is my new "drop" key.
And that's why you change the drop key to B. You get used to it quickly, and it saves lots of accidents. Not to mention it's required for flying.
I threw my eff 5 fortune 3 unbreaking 3 into lava... Even tho my hotkey is u.... I just wish I could disable the throw
you can re-map the keys easily! Just go into the spawn, select your favorite enchanted item, and repeatedly press Q!
hahahah i have it set to none so i can never throw away a item its so simple how to set it none and i wont tell unless you beg
i have thrown over 3 sharp IV fire II diamond swords in pvp and 1 at spawn FFS 1 prot IV helmet thrown at spawn after crazy flower drop almost lost a fortune III eff IV unbreak III by dying 1 block from lava
And thats why I won't mine with enchanted stuff. I just take 2 dpicks and start mining at level 13 or below level 7
I once died with an eff v unb 3 silk pick after falling into lava. I also threw a sharp 5 sword in pvp and a builder picked it up and tped away. Wattya gonna do
a while back when i just got my town, i was mining and i saw some iron! it was below me and i was at layer 12... Did the minecraft taboo and dug down into lava lost like a eff 4 fort 3 pick... then i lost a eff 5 unbreaking 3 fort 3 pick to a server crash then i lost many swords and armor to pvp then i lost a sharp 4 sword to pressing ze dreadful Q
This thread makes me feel better about my losses. Never lost anything to throwing, just to lava while mining.
That's why I put enchanted item in my inventory and not the hot-bar just in-case. The worth i have lost was an eff4 pick but that was due to portal lag not pressing "Q".
