I'm at work and need a break. I glanced at it and it seems pretty standard, so... Let's tacle this and we can have a good laugh at me.

    1. Define hyperthreading and which CPU company mainly uses it in their processors. Intel uses it. It is basically like extra threads for cores to get their data from. One core can do the work of multiple cores and the threads don't get bottlenecked. I think it is overhyped myself, but it does increase speed.

    2. I have a CPU that has holes in it and connects to the motherboard! What type of CPU is this? Got me there. I would think the socket has the holes. A reverse CPU?

    3. What is the term given to changing settings on the computer to run the CPU faster than its clock speed? Overclocking.

    4. Andrew has just noticed that the time and date has disappeared! What has happened? (No, he hasn't accidentally hidden it.) I am guessing you are meaning something besides the taskbar hiding and the System Icon is "On" for Clock. I would go through the settings. I think I'm stumped here as well.

    5. What is the job of the CMOS battery and what does CMOS stand for? The battery keeps the CMOS powered. CMOS has infocustom settings in its RAM that the BIOS reads when powering up. You unplug the battery and the stuff stored there goes bye-bye. I totally forget what it stands for though.

    6. What does the B.I.O.S. chip on a motherboard do and what does it stand for? I know this one :) This chip has the first instructions your computer reads when it starts up. It reads this chip and the chip says "hey check the CMOS for any special instructions, load these drivers, perform the POST (Power-On-Self-Test), start this OS, etc" Basic Input/Output System

    7. What is faster? A hard disc drive or a solid state drive? Since the HDD's are phasing out and the SSD's are here to stay, I am going with an educated guess of Solid State Drives are faster. You going to start asking about SATA's next?

    8. What does P.O.S.T. stand for? Hey, I already answered this, cool. POST=Power On Self Test.

    9. What information does the M.S.D.S. tell you? I learned this as a manager in a fast food place. Material Safety Data Sheet :p I have a feeling you really mean Microsoft Developer Network. This is where you can get assistance with bugs/errors while developing compatible progs and reference material regarding sample codes and the such. I had to get licensed in my last job and took a claass once. I honestly know more about the Data Sheets than the Microsoft Network.

    10. I have a live electrical fire! What class of fire extinguisher do I reach for? Hmmm. Foam probably wouldn't be the best idea. I would skip the fire extinguisher and grab some dirt/sand or salt even.

    4. Andrew has just noticed that the time and date has disappeared! What has happened? (No, he hasn't accidentally hidden it.) He hid it on purpose!

    5. What is the job of the CMOS battery and what does CMOS stand for? its a battery, and the job of a battery is to be a source of power for computers.

7 is a misleading question. The answer is both. Solid states do not move, therefore a spinning disk drive 'moves faster', but a solid state retrieves data faser.

No one needs to know this. I build computers and overclock and do a hell of a lot with them. I mean like, who would need to know what P.O.S.T. stands for? Though I am not against learning new things, so if someone could post some decent, perhaps vaguely realistic, answers then I wouldn't mind.

    1. Define hyperthreading and which CPU company mainly uses it in their processors. Hyperthreading is when a processor creates more threads than it has cores, therefore making it more powerful. Currently the Intel i7's are the main line of processors that do this, but AMD is trying to follow up with it on their server processors.

    2. I have a CPU that has holes in it and connects to the motherboard! What type of CPU is this? No CPU recently has "holes" Intel has gold contacts, AMD has pins, if you are referring to the socket, it would be AMD, or a very old intel.

    3. What is the term given to changing settings on the computer to run the CPU faster than its clock speed? Overclocking and or Overvolting

    4. Andrew has just noticed that the time and date has disappeared! What has happened? (No, he hasn't accidentally hidden it.)

    5. What is the job of the CMOS battery and what does CMOS stand for? Complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor, and it stores the BIOS information

    6. What does the B.I.O.S. chip on a motherboard do and what does it stand for? It provides access to hardware components, Basic Input Output System.

    7. What is faster? A hard disc drive or a solid state drive? SSD, no moving parts. It is practically a very large USB drive, as they both use NAND flash memory.

    8. What does P.O.S.T. stand for? Power On Self Test, done when the computer boots, checks all the components

    9. What information does the M.S.D.S. tell you? System Diagnostics

    10. I have a live electrical fire! What class of fire extinguisher do I reach for? CO2 or Chemical.

Wow. I'm not bad concerning computers, but this...is the master class. :D
I also have a few problems translating them to german...but I'll try. ;)

    1. Define hyperthreading and which CPU company mainly uses it in their processors.
    W00t? No idea.

    2. I have a CPU that has holes in it and connects to the motherboard! What type of CPU is this?
Don't ask me. I'm more used to knowledge about software. ^.^

    3. What is the term given to changing settings on the computer to run the CPU faster than its clock speed?
I hope you mean overclocking (German: "Übertakten") ?

    4. Andrew has just noticed that the time and date has disappeared! What has happened? (No, he hasn't accidentally hidden it.)
Hm...did he end the task "explorer.exe" in the task manager?

    5. What is the job of the CMOS battery and what does CMOS stand for?
The job of the CMOS battery is to continually support the BIOS with power to properly display time and date when the PC starts.
No idea what CMOS stands for, though...

    6. What does the B.I.O.S. chip on a motherboard do and what does it stand for?
BIOS, the Basic Input-Output System tells the system what to do if a key on the keyboard is pressed, for example. E.g. also tells what to do if a joystick/mouse/etc... is connected. I think.

    7. What is faster? A hard disc drive or a solid state drive?
A SSD is approx. 4-5 times faster than a HDD because a HDD has to rotate once until there is a new field to write on. SSD's don't have this disadvantage.
    8. What does P.O.S.T. stand for?
    I confess: IDK.

    9. What information does the M.S.D.S. tell you?
    See 8. :/

    10. I have a live electrical fire! What class of fire extinguisher do I reach for?
I'd say you should take one using carbon dioxide (CO2). That should be fire extinguisher class...B, I think. Might be different in other countries.

EDIT: Lol. Didn't see that JamieSinn already answered the questions perfectly.
The big advantage of those with the extra-rare [Developer]-Tag. :D

The fact you said this would make me not want to buy a computer from you or ask for help. These are basic knowledge questions that anyone who works on computers honestly should know. I mean when you do your MCSE you have to know this stuff so why wouldn't you take the time know them? I mean you can assemble a computer that's great but do you really know how it all works together?
And I'm just saying i'm not trying to start problems here either.

    1. Define hyperthreading and which CPU company mainly uses it in their processors. This is used to improve parallelization of computations (doing multiple things at once) performed on PC's. Intel i7 is best for this

    2. I have a CPU that has holes in it and connects to the motherboard! What type of CPU is this? Honestly I don't know why lol.

    3. What is the term given to changing settings on the computer to run the CPU faster than its clock speed? This is called overclocking. This pretty much means that you are using the CPU at faster speeds then what is normally tested for said CPU. This allows you to do more.

    4. Andrew has just noticed that the time and date has disappeared! What has happened? (No, he hasn't accidentally hidden it.) It disappeared he can right lick in the area and select show clock.

    5. What is the job of the CMOS battery and what does CMOS stand for? Stands for Complementary Metal-oxide-semiconductor. This stores the BIOS settings.

    6. What does the B.I.O.S. chip on a motherboard do and what does it stand for? Basic Input/Output System. BIOS job is to initialize and test the system hardware components and load the bootloader or OS from a memory device.

    7. What is faster? A hard disc drive or a solid state drive? A SSD is faster because it is able to access the data on the disc all at once whereas a HDD can only access the data that is closest to the read write heads.

    8. What does P.O.S.T. stand for? Power-on self-test

    9. What information does the M.S.D.S. tell you? Material Safety Data Sheet. This tells you what the chemical is how it is used clean up requirements and safety concerns and what to do in events of contamination

    10. I have a live electrical fire! What class of fire extinguisher do I reach for? Co2 ABC dry chemical, Halotron or Halotron 1211
