The tales of how he singlehandedly broke the old, oppressive Caprican government. Stories of how his charismatic flair had incited riots and rebellions throughout the land. Rumours of his irresistible charm. He wasn't just Caprica's hero. He was also my hero. But the man in front of me was none of these things. He was weak. He was broken. I kept waiting for some witty remark. Some action that would reaffirm all of my expectations. Something that would lessen my disappointment. And then a voice called out. "So they've tried force... now are they attempting a new approach?" And with that, single misogynistic comment, I knew that I had the right man. "Keon Greeley. My name is Rachel Blake. We don't have much time... it's about Outer..." "Isn't it always? What's he got himself into now then?" He didn't know... of course he didn't know. Why would anybody have told him? He was a prisoner. A moment of silence passed. "I'm sorry... I... he's been missing for over two weeks now. Nobody has heard from him since Hurricane Tisiphone hit Caprica." The silence lingered. I wanted to be sympathetic, to comfort him, but I knew that I was running out of time. I needed answers now. "A few days into the storm, all communication with Caprica was lost. Officials are saying that it was due to a power failure at The Cerberus Reactor, but I think they are keeping something from us." He remained silent. "I think that somebody wanted Outer gone. And I think that the government are covering it up." After a moment, a dry, beaten voice replied. "The Cerberus Reactor has been inactive for months. If that's their explanation for any communication failure, then I assure you it's a lie" "Inactive? But... how..." "Caprica, like most of The Zodiac Nation's biggest cities, has been slowly converting to a new energy source to power their primary systems. Primary systems... such as communications. Power Crystals. They are more efficient. More reliable. Produce less waste... Upgrades were completed shortly before Colonial Day." "Energy Crystals?... You mean like those used in Aerlion? "Aerilion was only the prototype. Caprica, Tauron, Leonis... and of course Colonial 1. They all use the same technology. There's no way that any storm could have knocked out those communications." Footsteps. They were coming closer. "I'm running out of time... Do you know why they would lie to the public about this?" "I can think of a few reasons..." The door behind us swung open. We both turned in a moment of panic. "Rachel, somebody's coming. We have to leave now... I could lose my job." It was only the guard that bought me here. I let out a sigh of relief, but I knew we would't be alone for much longer. "The company that produces the energy crystals is Cyrus Industries. Whatever the reason for this coverup, I'll guareentie you Cyrus was involved." I felt my arm being tugged, and before I knew it, the scrawny boy was dragging me towards the door. "Cyrus might have the nation fooled, but trust me, he's dangerous. Don't trust him, and don't trust the others either. Nobody in Caprica are allies anymore... Nobody." And with that final message, the door was closed, and my chance for answers was over. - Private notes of Rachel Blake, Reporter for The Caprican Chronicle.
Sir, do yourself a favor, and write a book. And get it published. This is good. Like, I read this 3 or 4 times, and was captivated every second.
