Welcome to this, the 9th edition, of The ECC Chronicle. On behalf of the Chronicle I'd like to welcome @Caliki123, @HyruleanHero, @ImpulseIV and @Madielake to their recent appointment to the staff team. Congratulations are also in order for @Dare2Dream for her appointment to SuperMod! Congratulations to all of you. Secondly, I'd like to push the ECC Chronicle Writer's competition we are currently holding. There is a cash prize and two spots on the team for the winners! You can find out more in our report from Karin. Now all that's left for me to say is enjoy the issue! First up, a report on the recent Defend the Base Event by @Karin_88 "Defend the Base" is a fun game, where having a strategy is very important. It's a pleasant mixture of pvp and breaking blocks! To explain further, the point of the game is to not only break down as many of the opponents blocks that you can, but to also protect your base, and yourselves, from the opponents. This month's "Defend the Base" tournament didn't bring out too many teams; however, the event was still a hit! Even with the server owner, Andrewkm, doing a bunch of server restarts and maintenance right after the event started, the players still had tons of fun! I reached out to a member of each of the four winning teams, and a got a few responses back. Here's what they had to say about the event when I asked what their teams strategies were, and if they had any advice for people who might be interested in trying this event out in the future. @RANDOM2580 's teams strategy was pretty sound: "The best strategy for Defend the Base was to get on top of the opponents base- it was hard for our opponents to knock us off since they had to break their own base to get to the roof. Another important aspect was teamwork, since it was always better to defend and attack as a team instead of assigning roles of defending/attacking." @Caliki123 's advice for players who want to try this game in the future was, "Plan beforehand, and just make sure your team chemistry is good". RANDOM's advice was, "Definitely play with a friend! It's fun and a great experience. This game was mostly about strategy than just straight pvp since the point values were determined by amount of blocks you break and the amount of blocks your base still has. So both attacking and defending is equally important." When players died, they had to use a warp to get back into the arena. @schloty21, who was on RANDOM's team, added this piece of advice for a quicker way to get back into the arena: "If you have ExtCommands and you can powertool the warp to one of the items in your inventory to get you back to the arena quickly that helps a ton." Everyone agreed it's equally important to come up with a plan before the game, but to also go with the flow and react accordingly. So, if you're interested in trying this event the next time it's going on, definitely play with a friend, plan a bit beforehand, and play it by ear I think it's safe to say everyone is looking forward to the next "Defend the Base" It's that time again... This is the first in what I hope will be a series of Town Spotlights! This week we have an interview conducted by @HelenDKN with @ImpulseIV on his town Ash. How would you describe your town? As an All-In-One town. From Amazing builds to every usefully thing you could imagine. What gave you the idea for this sort of town? Why not a plot town or a medieval town for example? We decided to go with this style and plan because we felt a lot of the other towns were relatively plan. Either just flat town with plots or a big farm. So we wanted to do something unique. We decided on a fantasy style because that fit MasterNathan and Is build style and it is a more uncommon build style on the server How long have you been working on this town for so far? I believe we started working on the towns a little under a month ago. I have been putting over 8 hours a day in to mine everything out and build. So how many towns in total have you got now/how many are you planning to buy for this town? We started with just 4 towns, but we recently decided to buy 12 more to have a 16 town nation. As of yesterday 4 more towns were bought (for a total of 8 towns) and over the next few days 8 more towns will be purchased to have all 16 towns. So all the work on this has been your own with very little hired help? I remember you mentioning something like that last time we talked. Yes we only hired 2 people to mine out a relatively small chunk of the crater over 2-3 days when that was being made. But I have personally mined millions of blocks. I also personally replaced all of the blocks on the surface, which estimated around 50-60 double chests of concrete. Also the other members of Ash have help mine and build. But the majority of the grunt work has been done by me. Are you keeping the world in it’s natural state and just placing blocks over the current terrain? What I did was I mined every visible block on the surface, so the sides of mountains and top layer of the land basically. Then I went and put concrete where all of those blocks were. I did this because I thought just simply putting the concrete on top of the blocks that were already there could potentially cause areas to look weird and was lazy. The only terraforming that has been done is around the crater. Do you have any additional comments you want to make, Impulse? Nah I think that's it. You could also link our members application if you want: https://tinyurl.com/ash-member-application You can see a gallery of images from Ash here: Credit to one of this week's "Accepted Suggetions" on our watch goes to ECC Chronicle's very own "Netherstar Guy", @Fr0zenTiger ! His suggestion was very simple: add a command that you can type while on the VMR server to find out that week's theme! He suggested it because "it's way easier to just type a command in game instead of looking it up on the forums". Indeed, it would be! ClarinetPhoenix, one of the server Co-Owners, created a wiki page that will be frequently updated with each new, current theme (to see that wiki page, click here. To see Fr0zen's suggestion, click here. @strongpelt came up with a brillant suggestion, asking for a way to name and organize PlayerVaults and Travelbags. Her reasoning for suggesting this was totally understandable: "It'd just make finding things a lot easier for people that have a ton in their bags. Quality of life update basically. Save some peoples sanity." She suggested this back at the beginning of April this year, and Andrew had marked it as "Under Review", saying they couldn't implement this for PlayerVaults, but when it came to TravelBags, "the travel bag code is custom made, and owned by ECC, as such we can alter it with ease." And now, as of 6/25, you can name the TravelBags! To see more information on how to do that, click here. To check out strongpelt's suggestion, click here.
