Hey friends! This is the fifth edition of the ECC Chronicle! It's a special edition Lots of things to go over, including some new weekly specials we'd like to run! If you've read last week's edition, you'll know we increased advertising prices from 2,000ECD to 5,000ECD, per ad/per week. You can apply for an ad in the HQ thread here. We are still planning doing town features in our upcoming editions. If you’d like your town to be featured, please provide some screenshots, either via Discord or Forum PM. Karin_88 Deputy Editor Since we've made it to the FIFTH edition, we decided to do a little segment about who the writers behind the Chronicle are! First up, we've got the creator, and Head-Editor, @TaylorBros22. He's been on the forums since June 2013. He started the Chronicle back up after a few years of inactivity because he thought it was a good way to highlight the great things people do on the server. His favorite part about the Chronicle is seeing everyone's reaction to the lastest editions. A random fact about him, is that in IRL he has nothing to do with English/Journalism; he's actually studying for a degree in Digital Forensics! Next, is Deputy Editor @Karin_88. She joined ECC in September 2019. When asked why she wanted to join the Chronicle, she replied, "I've always loved writing, and I love the ECC community. I was super excited when I found out a newspaper was starting and had to sign up!" Her favorite part about working on the Chronicle is making the headline banners, and editing the articles. Some random IRL info is she loves cats, and she and her husband have one, named Sasha. The "Nether star guy" is @Fr0zenTiger. He's been on the ECC forums since January 2019. When asked why he joined the Chronicle, he said "I was bored and I was looking to do something new, and then I saw that Taylor was looking for people to start a newspaper with, and I thought, 'Hey, that might be fun!'" His favorite part about working on the Chronicle is the friendly reactions the newspaper receives from the readers, and also it's a nice break from "the grind". A little bit of IRL info is he loves to build models! "I have built 4 planes; at the moment, I'm currently building my 5th one!" One of the reporters is @HelenDKN. She's been on ECC since 2014. Her reasoning for joining the Chronicle was she "wanted to be involved in something for the community." One of her favorite parts about writing for the Chronicle is "talking to a lot of new people and seeing different sides of the server". A random fact about her is she loves sports! Another reporter is @SoftlyPsychotic. She's been on the forums since October 2012. Last, but not least, is the Star Tool Analyst, @strongpelt. She's been on the forums since April of 2016. @HelenDKN brings us the upcoming May Events, happening this week! Spleef! Gear up your shovels as a Spleef event is coming to the server! Two different competitions, one for peak and one for off-peak, in tournament style. Off-peak tournament will be held at 1PM (EST) on May 9th, and on peak at 6PM (EST). The prizes are gift cards of up to $40, and ECD up to 400k! Even if you do not win the tournament, you can win 5k for every round won, so lots of opportunities to win money. Remember to sign up, and do /warp spleef! Book lovers and writers, the perfect competition has been prepared; a short story writing competition based on ECC. A 2-page story (with a required start, middle, and end) must wow the judges based on creativity, originality, grammar, and completeness. When was the last time you were on ECC's staff team, and what was your last rank? I was on the staff team in 2018 and the rank I achieved was SuperMod Nice! Somewhat recently, eh? What was the most memorable moment from the last time you were on staff? My most memorable moment was probably when I first got staff, this was the week skyblock was released and everyone was still figuring skyblock out, it was a fun time to play the server. Oh, I bet! Some people, like myself, are still trying to figure Skyblock out What do you hope to accomplish as a moderator this time around? My goal this time is to try and help as many new players as possible and possibly to reach GameAdmin That's a great goal! I hope you reach it! Have you noticed any differences in the expectations of a moderator now, compared to the last time you were a moderator? Sure, the vibe on the team is a lot more jokey and a lot less serious. Definitely prefer this to what staff was like previously, it's a lot easier to get along with everyone this way.
