Let me start this off by saying that I have been playing AEM Skyblock for the 5 years it was up (Ever since it was opened back in 2012) and I like to think I know what I'm talking about. First off, the admin shop prices are not supposed to be cheap, the admin shop is there as a last ditch effort, anything in skyblock should be obtained by either minecraft mechanics (crafting/villager trading/farming etc...) or Challenges. Some challenges should be infinitely repeatable, like the one that give sand and grass. And both sand and grass should be really expensive as they are both used for building and farming. Also if the admin shop prices are really cheap that kills any player trading that was going to be up, and player trading is essential in Skyblock as it stimulates the economy and makes it stable (This very much helps ECC's Economy as well. This also makes it possible for the owners/developers to change the money exchange rates accordingly as the economy is stable and not all over the place.) Second of all, DO NOT LIMIT WHAT PLAYERS CAN DO. Whether it's setting a certain limit on how many hoppers players can place or even signs. Especially if you have an OP shop with it. Players should be able to do whatever they want, and if you have the right amount of kit balance and crate balance and shop balance then the economy will stabilize. Also revisit every item in the shop please, currently nothing in the shop has any value, from crops to useful blocks to decorative blocks. If items don't have value then there is no point in skyblock at all, especial when you're trying to have it interact with your economy server. Third of all, remove all rewards from leveling up the island, that's not a good way to make money and it's easily exploitable. Imagine placing blocks of diamond and then removing them to gain money. (idk if that actually works but I would assume it does) Make money obtainable by voting and by completing challenges. The less money there is on the server (to an extent) the more the economy is stabilized and the less of an issue it becomes for the owners to control it. Fourth of all, Shared Nether world and Shared End should be available, this makes resources like witherskulls, glowstone, endstone and the Dragon Egg rare and not easily obtainable since players will be competing with each other to get them and sell them for competitive prices. This sparks up the economy. Fifth of all, Spawners are not apart of non-OP Skyblock, especially wither skeleton/skeleton ones. Any spawner will break the economy, and that is never fun. The server right now feels like a mess, it's a mash between non-OP and OP at the same time. Sway made the same mistake with the shop prices and the economy was literally fucked up in the first couple hours. (We all know how that turned up). If you want the server to feel OP then keep the shop prices but advertise it as an OP server and make the kits OP and spawners available for everyone. But if you want the server to be more stable and non-OP then fix the prices and don't let spawners get out of hand. (Or remove the ability to silk touch them entirely) If I think of anything else I'll make sure to include it. I'm more than happy to discuss this topic further and share my ideas in PMs or in the comments.
We will definitely be taking this suggestion seriously and making changes in our early Skyblock moments to avoid mistakes from the past
Which they are, I believe. Yes, this was the mistake I made when creating the server. The beta never found this issue because we never had the server shop. Realistically, I need to limit things that cause lag. Hoppers, signs, and other lagging entities are something I will be limiting. Currently it's 10, and I'm willing to increase it. Planned. No, that's unfortunately what makes ECC players want to play. That's something that has to be there. The place and break won't happen as it's a one way reward. You get it once per 10 levels, and you cannot go down then back up. Resets are the same story, no effect. Planning to look and see what's up with this. Not 100% sure how I want to do it. The nether gen currently there is a problem yes, planning to fix it soon if I don't go the generic way. The server shop was the crux of that. The rest are small things that I anticipated changing with the first day or two. I appreciate the feedback, I'll see what I can do about everything.
Things like signs are used a lot in gold farms/iron farms and other water based farms. Although wooden gates could also work they are more expensive and are probably limited as well. (I only played the server for a few hours last night and I'm not 100% sure on some aspects.) My suggestion would be just having a netherworld/endworld that everyone can access through either warps or portals they have to make/get from challenges. That makes it a bit more fair for everyone and balanced. (This was the case in the original skyblock server and it worked out fine.)
Thank you so much! My only concern now is the infinite Blaze spawners, Could you set a limit on how many spanwers an island can contain?
I hope you can allow me to add this here since its a thread for basic balancing I thought maybe i could get some info on some problems i've seen. 1. Why are spawners able to be silk touched but not placed? (mixed info from players on this so idk whats true and not true or the plans for this in the future) 2. Should nether/end have monthly resets like Main? Right now the nether is completely void of blaze spawners due to silk touch. (one team having 33 blaze spawners themselves) This severely unbalances the game due to a monopoly on "first come first serve". Basically punishing players who weren't online the first day of skyblock and or was just minutes too late from the first person to find the spawners. Thanks, I just want to say that your work on skyblock so far has been amazing. Even with all the problems this game mode is the best thing i've ever done on ECC so far Great job Jamie and Andrew + AEM Crew <3
Agree that spawners can really wreck an economy and server especially if there is unequal access to them. Thinking about when I join a SB server as a new player, a somewhat level playing is something I look for. Not sure what to do about the nether given it is a shared nether. Spent some time in it and its pretty well looted. Guessing this happened pretty early when the shop was open and some were smart enough to get obsidian. Couldn't find any spawners. Even getting blaze rods was chore. Maybe periodic resets would at least give other players a chance for some of the loot you find in the nether. Still, having a lot of fun getting my island going!
Currently all spawners are useless since they're only placeable in the nether. In my opinion this should be the case or even remove all spawners. Having spawners would just wreck the server's economy and make it unplayable with it's current balance.
Minecraft Name: mcculloughm Suggestion: Increase the item frame limit on islands Reason: Many players like to use an item frame on their chests to indicate what the main content is. Chests are limited to 100, but item frames are limited to 30. Request and item frame limit increase to match the chest limit, or at least 50 to cover the number of double chests. Any Other Information: Thanks! Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: Skyblock
I believe like 90%+ of this suggestion has already been implemented @Kaslan. If you are looking for further changes, please make a seperate suggestion thread, with a detailed explanation of what exactly you want changed. Threads like this with mushed together suggestions (first of all, second of all, third of all, fourth of all, etc...) literally end up falling on deaf ears around here hence why it was ignored for so long. Once again though, I do believe 90% of this is already implemented. If not, make separate, to the point, detailed suggestions. Marking accepted.
