Everyday I see people posting complaints. Everyday I see people complaining in chat about this or that. And in the shout box people vent their anger whether it be because they cannot get online or because they are banned.

Sometimes it makes me feel sad to see all this hate so I want to suggest a forum section. This section is for people to post nice things about others. From the smallest actions to the biggest gifts, or even just cause they feel like it, they can post about others. They can say thanks or praise them. People can be given recognition for the nice things they do.

I am pretty sure this will not be hard to implement. Yes it may require some work from moderators to ensure no flaming or arguments, but I see this as being a positive thing for the server.

Please do tell me what you think, it was just an idea that I had when reading the complaints section so hasn't had much thought.

The forums aren't here to baby you or make you feel better, they aren't here to play therapist they are here to discuss the server and create a community. I've seen many good news threads in off-topic but really we don't need an entire forum section to make people feel good. Simply ignore the shoutbox if it bothers you that much.

I think you have got it wrong. It isn't to make anyone feel good. It is to give recognition to those who help and show that you are thankful for what somone else had done. I feel that you simply haven't had anything nice happen to you, which is why you have replied in a way I find rude. You say the forums are to create a community yet you are not in support of celebrating the kind acts of members of the community. Your dismissive approach to this suggestion does seem to imply that you haven't given the suggestion much thought. If you read my suggestion I am simply outlining how we focus on the bad and not enough on the good.

I wouldn't make a praise or thanks type of forum board/subforum. However, a "Yay!" one would be okay... Maybe.

Difference is that "Yay!" means anything that made you happy IRL and/or in-game; finally getting a melonsword, getting your first town, winning a competition IRL, getting a new computer, etc. However, "Yay!" also means that you can thank/praise someone, if you so wish. Why? Because people can make you go "yay!" and you can want to thank them.

Why I am talking about a "Yay!" instead of a "Praise/Thanks" is because, as some have mentioned/touched on, it would simply cause flame wars, drama, bias, favoritism, hate... Everyone will be trying to get praise and thanks, and become "popular" or "loved." But, with a "Yay!" type of subforum, that would happen far, far less, because it isn't about other people nor is personal; it's simply yaying about something, like many people currently do in-game and in the shoutbox.

Only reason why I said "Maybe" at the beginning is due to the fact that "Yay!" type of subforums exist on completely different forum communities and for completely different genres, and rarely for games. The type of people in gaming communities is much more... er, hostile and often can be younger, so "Yay!" (and especially praise/thanks) subforums can become heated, jealousy fests, and popularity contests.

So I'm -1, but with a +1 if it were to be done differently.
