[Super Submission Mania Draft] ECC Beginner's Guide

So, you've just joined Eco City Craft, one of the Top 5 servers on Minecraft-server-list.com , and are wondering what to do.
This thread is a compilation of many basic tutorials to help get you started and on your way to Resident, Mayor, and beyond.

Before anything, Just in case you joined the server before reading this, just type /spawn to go to the servers spawn, because most of what we will be doing originates from here In addition to this, remember that we have several chat "channels" on ECC. we have Local, Global, Trade, Auction, and Private Messages. In order to switch between these, simply type /ch l for local, /ch g for global, /ch tr for trade, and /ch auc for auction. For pm's, type /pm [username] [message]. You do not need to type the brackets, those are for ease of viewing Please note as well that /ch tr should ONLY be used for trades and /ch auc ONLY for auctions. If you are just going to be chatting, use /ch g or /ch l.

First, as soon as you log in to the game, type /kit starter
This will give you an assortment of items to help prevent you from starving and give you a few tools to get started. This can help big time because on a large server, it is sometimes difficult to find wood due to the vast distances required to be traveled across to find trees. now that you have done this, we can move on

Second, while logged in to the server, go to This website and look for the 4 vote buttons. If you are logged in, voting for these will give you a free $250 and 16 porkchops each. This means that if you vote for all four, you will receive $1000 and an entire 64 stack of porkchops! In order to vote, you will need to type a Verification code and your username into the boxes shown in the example below.

Nice! you now have $1000, a Kit of tools, and a ton of food! of course, you have no idea what to do with that money, so lets get on to that

One way you can use your money is by buying items from Signs. Lets say you wanted to buy some diamonds, but you weren't sure how. First, you should go to the user-made Store area near the spawn. This is located through one of the portals near to the spawn, just go directly behind the Message Board tot he portal surrounded by Diamond Blocks. Through here, you will see many shops with signs all over them. These signs will either buy things from you or sell things to you, depending on how they are set up. Below, the Left example will buy diamonds from you for 80, and the Right sign will Sell them to you for 100

Awesome! now that you have bought (or not ) everything you need, lets go build a house and make some money!

In spawn, there are several portals surrounded by wood. Through these portals, you will find area that re not protected by any town, and thus you can mine and build all you like! ( don't forget, however, that griefing IS allowed in this area, so be careful and hide your home well.) Because of this griefing-allowed rule, I Highly suggest running as far away as you can possibly stand before building. Once you decide on a location for you home, make sure to type /sethome so that you can go back there if you get lost. To go to your home, simply type /home

Once you have constructed your home, you have three main options for making money: one, which is the one I would suggest for beginners, is to mine for diamonds and other such nonsense . This is a very good tutorial on how to best find diamonds With this, I will need to teach you Two new commands: /worth and /sell hand. /worth will tell you how much an item is worth, and /sell hand will sell whatever you are holding directly to the server! no need to find any pesky player to buy your stuff, the server is a hungry beast willing to consume many items (but not everything). Users will usually pay a higher price, but are also harder to find.

Your second option is to ask for a job. To do this, use the /ch tr channel I spoke of above, and simply say "looking for a Job! pm me if you have one!" The reason i suggest mining over this is because, first of all, there aren't always jobs available. Second of all, they don't pay too well :\

Your third main option is to rent a pumpkin farm. again, with this use /ch tr and say "looking to rent a pumpkin farm! pm me if you have one with details!" this is a very fast way to make money, but requires Diamond Axes to be truly efficient. Once you find someone, you will need to pay them the amount they ask, then you will be able to farm these pumpkins, which means you are simply cutting them down . once you have a good amount, use /sell hand on them to make $1.50 per pumpkin! using this method, you can make around $6,000 an hour with a standard Diamond Axe (no enchants).

Woo! Now we have some money! But wait, what happened to my House?!? Usually, If you built your home in a wild area, it will get griefed with enough time. But we have a way to solve this! Joining a town! In order to do this, either A: pay attention to the trade channel for people saying "selling plots! pm me!" and pm them . Buying a plot in a town will allow you to build in security, knowing that even if your house is griefed, SuperModerators can catch and ban the offender, and if the damage done was bad enough get your property rolled back. a Rollback is when everything the griefer did is undone, so that your house is repaired for free Plots in towns are a major advantage, allowing you to even construct your own pumpkin farm should you wish in complete safety

So, now I have a Plot, Money, A home, The whole 9 yards, what's left for me to do on this server? Why, Rank up of course! When you start out on the server you are a builder, but you can Apply to become Higher Ranks! these include Resident, Mayor, President, and Tycoon, as well as (nether) Survivor, Warrior, Terminator, and (aether) Pilot, and Captain. I will only be explaining in this forum how to get to Resident, but for more Information check out This area of the ECC Wiki.

For Resident, you will need $15,000 ecodollars. That's it! Simply apply for Resident Using this Format in This area of the forums!
