EVERY SINGLE MAJOR UPDATE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THESE COMPLAINTS. "1.8 will ruin minecraft!" "1.7 will ruin minecraft!" And so on.

I honestly find threads like these silly. They're expecting us to not adapt/move onto the next generation/version of minecraft, which is quite stupid. A Server will have to adapt to these changing needs, and more and more people want 1.9, which is the inveitable, in order to retain players, the server will have to update to 1.9 sooner or later.

People will always irrationally complain about change, even if it's for the better. The thing is, without change, we wouldn't be here today. This applies both to the server and IRL - We wouldn't go anywhere or progress as a whole without change.

As far as the 1.9 update goes, it won't ruin PvP; IT WILL REVIVE PVP. Shields, arrows with special abilities and potion effects, dual-wielding and more. These are awesome features to add to the game and will definitely add more to the current PvP experience.

Don't listen to people who claim a major update will "ruin minecraft" - Because it won't, and many updates will improve it, not ruin it.

So, please don't waste our time with threads like this - Minecraft will progress whether you like it or not. Without change, minecraft wouldn't be what it is today.

 

While the majority of this is true, some things have been ruined but we can still adapt. **Cough 1.8 enchanting cough**

 

1.8 enchanting came with a change that prevented repairing tools indefinitely. Whereas in 1.7 you could still repair indefinitely.
This balanced it out.. except on ECC where you can repair, instantly, indefinitely and freely. The change wasn't bad, it just sucked for ECC.

 

It doesn't suck. You just don't like it. It's way better than just spamming a few buttons until one side dies.

 

We have to update eventually, and the sooner we do the quicker we take out all of the bugs and glitches that come with it.
It's inevitable, because all players will have their minecrafts updated to 1.9 and might not be willing to switch back.
Like name changes had to happen, I'm afraid this needs to as well.
Who knows? Maybe it'll revive an interest in survival games... or not because of the whole "impossible to play without kits" stuff.
If not SG, then for sure it will revive PVP (to a point).

You can't fight the change, it's inevitable. United and Shane pretty much summed up my opinion so I don't feel the need to elaborate.

Edit: If what you're saying is what you're suggesting I would edit the original post and elaborate.

Sorry, but we're updating to 1.9. Jamie and Andrew have already begun to make preparations (I think), and there's no way they're gonna turn back because a few people don't like it. As for you disliking some of the changes it brings... welp, sorry about that. Adapting to change is a good thing to learn in life, but if you really hate 1.9 PvP that much, you're 100% entitled to find another server that you like better.
