Hello, this suggestion is to add the plugin "NoSwear". It blocks swear words that are not suitable for ECC. To my knowledge the words are replaced by a "*" for every letter in the word. It also stops users from using full caps, although we already have something like that. It mutes players who swear after a certain amount of swear words used, thus preventing players from spamming swear words for attention. Bukkit.org link It's not updated for 1.8 yet, but the developer said he will update it once he is done another project he is working on. If you guys are planning on making some mini-games servers, a lot of little kids that don't like to lose will use some naughty words to express their anger and frustration when they do in fact lose. They will definitely get some coal in their stocking this year! Thanks!
Seems like a lot of work when the Mods already cover 95% of the swearing, and then the other 5% is resolved in complaints. Plus, with the chat issues being ironed out after the overhaul, I don't necessarily think adding this would be a good idea.
Eh, I seriously don't see any need to add this right now. 99% of the swears are covered and warned by staff and you're perfectly able to file a complaint for the ones that were not warned. No need to put censors when mods can already do their job. That being said though, when the hub and its additional mini games get released along with the additional advertising of the server, we might as well need to implement a filter, especially given that chat will Cross-Server, making it harder for moderators to deal with. However, it has not come to that yet, so for now, I'm against any form of implementation of this.
-1 While the intention is good, this has been discussed before, and I am on the side that it would actually lead to more trolling as players try to "outwit" the censor. It really would be more work than its worth. We have a great staff team and complaint system. Utilize them.
My argument is the same as @goblizz, @UnitedStates2002, and @Emau's - Too much work for too little use. We're not a server that has a lot of swearing in chat anyway. -1
The only way I can see this suggestion working is if it only blocks racist stuff and really bad swears. and just punish anyone who bypasses it.
AS i say on all suggestions like this Its the internet if you cant handle hearing certain words you should not be on the internet if it bothers you that much ignore it. also a lot of plugins that do this are glitchy -1
