If timestamped screenshot evidence is now required for complaints, it needs to be stated in the wiki AND on the complaint form. If it isn't, then the staff members need to stop requiring it.
From the Wiki: Time stamps The best screenshot evidence you can have should have a timestamp. The timestamp helps us know when something tool place, and helps staff investigate events. In Minecraft, after a screenshot is taken, a timestamp will be shown in the chat window. If you then take a second screenshot in Minecraft, the second picture now has the timestamp of the first screenshot, and you may use the second screenshot as evidence. See how to take screenshots. Example of what a timestamp looks like in the chat window:
Sorry, I was agreeing with you - it only states that timestamps should be included. I edited and highlighted my post. And you are correct - the complaint form does not mention timestamped evidence at all. For new players especially, this can be very frustrating. It can be devastating to someone who has played for a day or two to get scammed or trolled by experienced players who should be trustworthy but know they can get by with it if there was no evidence.
It depends on the case and what the evidence is trying to prove. Probably easiest to explain my opinion on it using 2 situations: Situation 1 There is screenshot evidence of the following agreement: 'I agree to pay back 150k by 2nd May 2015'. In my opinion, the lack of a timestamp shouldn't be fatal to it. Regardless of what date the agreement took place, the person committing to the obligation has until X date to repay. This can be enforced by staff. Situation 2 This time the agreement is: 'I agree to pay back 150k in 2 weeks'. Here, without screenshot evidence there is no way for staff to enforce a payback date. Two weeks from what date? In this situation, I think the best outcome is not to render the evidence invalid, but to 'restart the clock'. So from the date of the complaint, we work out a payback date. In this situation it would be 'Date of complaint + 2 weeks'. This seems to me to be the fairest outcome. My opinion is that complaints shouldn't be dismissed for this reason, and the date should just be pushed back. [Don't quote me on this - There may be a situation that I just haven't thought of when a lack of timestamps is fatal.]
Why are timestamps needed for swearing complaints? I've had 2 on me and I see no need as to why the staff need the date. It is very clear that words were said. The timestamp is making complaints too confusing and making less players get what they deserve. It NEEDS to be specified that you are required to have timestamps for all complaints.
The post above was the complaint on you needing a timestamp. TaylorBros said that they need a timestamp because this could have been a long time ago, and could've been already handled.
IMO the staff member that handles the complaint could just ask the user nicely to refrain from swearing. In most complaints there is evidence of a general time frame of when the screenshot was taken.
This suggestion isn't about scamming complaints. This is about swearing and chat complaints. Several of your staff members are now requiring timestamps on them. Either you need to add that as an official rule/procedure or talk to your staff about it.
Your initial post didn't make that clear. As for the complaint zr2002 posted above, that was sorted out and I know of one other occurrence (which I imagine led you to posting this suggestion). Have there been others?
Thank you for explaining this. I believe it is possible that some of the staff may not quite understand this.
http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/user-complaint-skymaster200.123533/ There was another one handled by mission, but I can't find it. The posts may have been deleted.
The fact I didn't say time stamps are required.... I said they help staff determine when the issue took place. Because they might have already been warned previously for the issue or it might have been dragged up from a long time ago just to get the player in trouble again http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/user-complaint-skymaster200.123533/ If you actually read what I say: I cannot guess the to,estate of the evidence because I don't want the user to have a multiple warn. I'm asked for time stamps so I could get an idea of how long ago this was so I could ask another staff member if they had warned in game for it. I don't see what the problem is, What I do see as a problem, and you would to hate it you were warned for abusive language or spamming caps or something along those lines multiple times over the same offensive...
