Thread Title: Plugin suggestion for a /vote command Minecraft Name: Vintage_Gamer Suggestion: I think it would be a good idea to have a command where you type /vote and the 6 urls for the voting pages come up. It would save time on going on to the forums etc, and you could just do it ingame. Unless you are one for offline voting. Reason: I think it would be more efficient and save time for players. Other Information: N/A Link to this plugin: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/votecommand/ http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/votenow/
... Just make it so when you do /vote it pops up the links for the websites, it detects word.com and makes it a link automatically, but andrew can always color the link.
Decompiling isn't allowed. There are 2 problems with closed source plugins. 1, you can't easily see exploits. 2, licensing. Closed source plugins usually have an "all rights reserved" or an "GNU General Public License", this means we CAN NOT edit the plugin in-case the developer decides to quit, because it would be a breach of copyright.
A bit forward, but you have a point. Andrew would do a lot to get more votes. Currently I don't vote. Mainly because I have to type in the name and ect, and because I have to open the forums. If one of those was removed, I might have a reason more to vote. It is a lot of work for something small, but it improves. And just remember, just since your staff doesn't mean you can call the shots on everything. Still try to approach everyone, and their opinions, with friendliness and politeness.
If it was a significant increase in votes due to this than I agree with the suggestion completely. But I don't believe this small change will make a difference in voting. It might be for a few people but for the majority, no. Also, not really sure where you're coming from with the staff part. I'm straightforward but polite, understanding and respectful. If you found my post rude, please accept my humble apology.
I think it will have a bit of an effect on votes. Perhaps not. And maybe it was just me. The post did seem a bit un-adding to the debate though, is what I mean. But yeah, we aren't all perfect
When I refer to a few votes, I mean like 3-5 people. This still does not guarantee they'll vote everyday. Is adding this plugin (which can add lag - minor but still) worth this minor difference? Also note that the difference in votes from the top 5 servers are usually quite significant.
Of course, almost all the users that vote now-a-days would use it, but your talking about completely new users who's voting would hinge on this. I couldn't say if it would be a lot or a few, but in my opinion, ANYTHING that helps people vote faster/soon, and helps more people vote, is always good in my book. Minor lag or no.
This suggestion is not directed towards those who already vote daily. It's towards users who currently do not vote. If it was directed to current voters, the plugin is absolutely not worthwhile considering that it doesn't affect anything. Now, only a few non-current voters may vote. But it's still unlikely. Adding a plugin not only adds a bit lag, but confusion, complexity and more work in general.
I've been thinking, and I believe that actually quite a few people would vote with this. Take a look at it. Most new builders/residents don't know much about voting, or how to vote. With this command in-game, they can jump straight to the voting sites. I could imagine it would raise the total voters by quite a bit, with in-game chat announcements about the command.
There are already vote reminders with links straight towards the forum page with all the links. Not sure if voting is also talked about in the /help commands. We have already provided the links, clear instructions on how to vote and we have a great community/staff team to assist any other issues they may have.
Jason1964 and AlphaTimer Lets give it a try if little we remove and if a little more votes then we keep.
You may notice, there are tons and tons of people in-game that never use the forums. The command would probably lead to them voting more.
The votereminders are noticeable for sure, if you can't notice those then you're doing something wrong. (or you already voted, which means the command would be useless to you) The votereminders contain a url (http://ecocitycraft.com/vote), which leads to a page with all voting buttons and explanations on voting.
In my mind they rather blend in with the dozens of other stuff other there. And I never see the URL in-game or in a reminder.
