The only one that's really "irrelevant" now is the new pets one. Most of those things such as the banking system and name changes are extremely important, especially for returning players, and I wouldn't want to see them go.
We don't necessarily need to get rid of some of them, but I do think that we should add new ones more often. There could have been one for the wii contest, or the portal changes...
Well, I do think we should replace the pets one with a portals one, but I don't think we should make and replace them often. Let's leave them for the more important information. Something like a wii giveaway can easily gain as much attention in the news section.
Not how they should be used imo. They should be used for cool stuff that looks good to new players. We can put important info elsewhere, that should highlight cool additions etc. Think of what would look good - removing portals wouldn't, giveaway would be.
I don't see that as useful for important info. We have tons of other places for important info. I'm not saying it should be trivial stuff either but a good mix - no need for stuff like name changes, they've been added to minecraft for months and if you need info it's on the wiki and on name change form. It's old news that there's literally no point in making a big deal out of.
+1 We should use the old picture from the "Spooky Build Contest" from two years ago, I hope I still have it.
I really, really liked the old one. Really thought it went very well for the theme. Perhaps making it look even nice would be even better. That is of course, if you are able to.
