Minecraft Name: Jason1964 Suggestion: Troll Posts on Ban Appeals/Complaints should be deleted. Reason: I see a lot of posts on Appeals/Complaints these days. Sure, Staff warns the person for them, but the post is still there. If someone posts on yours and makes fun of you, or mocks you, yes, they get warned, but the post still sits there. Still making fun of you/mocking you every single time you come back. They should be deleted because, if they aren't, the mocker/troll still gets their point across. Deleting trolly posts on Appeals/Complaints would ruin the whole point of posting troll posts there. People would troll post there less, because their post gets deleted. If it doesn't get deleted, they still get satisfaction from posting. Any Other Information: Pretty much the same as this suggestion I made a while back, that got accepted. http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-forum-rule-changes.58026/ Link To This Plugin: Forums.
I agree. The appeal/complaint just gets clutterd. It makes it more difficult to follow what is happening with irrelevant posts here and there. +1
Agreed, just makes them look messy as silly little children cannot read rules and abide by them. Great suggestion Jason Sent from my HTC One
They do get warned. The suggestion is for the posts to get deleted, not warned, they already get warned.
Warned and deleted. Good idea. Especially those people who are like "I know I'm not supposed to post here..." They should get two warnings, because they admit they know the rules they're breaking.
Normally I would agree with this, but keeping the posts is a type of log of what people have done and been warned for. I would prefer being able to search a user's name for any future reference I may need it on, rather than it getting deleted and being lost.
Moofink Come on. I finally thought I had the perfect suggestion and you poke some hole in it. But I'm curious, when you warn them, doesn't the information/reason get stored in a log/list somewhere?
When a user is warned, it's stored under their profile, so yes, we can see what they were warned for. We can also see deleted posts, but they cannot be searched for.
The problem is that the staff will want to see how severe the rule break was. As I understand, only the fact that they were warned is stored. Unless they were to link to the post in the log (more work), then deleting them makes it near impossible to find.
If a simple "warning" doesn't give you info that you need to know, they need to: Add a little note with the warning. Have more levels of warning. Link to the post. (Btw, these are a suggestion for only using one at a time, not all three) Any one of these would practically solve the problem.
I too agree completely. I feel it would obviously be left up to staff discretion as to what to consider a troll post, but, I think anything that multiple staff consider to be trolly should be deleted.
Warn reasons have a character limit - notes are not viable, nor are links. (We cannot change the character limit.) As well, how can we link if the post is deleted? That doesn't make sense... Xenforo is limited in its system - however, it is also more complex than just about every other forum system - and levels of warning would either be a) difficult to set up, b) not possible, or c) would be hard to keep track of (assuming it was Staff-tracked, not system-based). Reason why I am against this suggestion is because of the complications of being unable to easily find what is warned for if it is deleted. It is a lot like requiring LWCs, Grief Reports, Complaints, and Ban Appeals to all be posted here, on the forum. It is logged, it can be searched for, it is all in the same place. Deleted posts are, essentially, in another, unsearchable place, much like Facebook, Skype, etc. As well, I see it kind of tying into our saying of, "if you are unsure about trusting a person [with trades/sales/loans/donations/building/etc], search their name on the forum [to see their reputation]." Even though trolling posts on complaints/appeals does not necessarily fall under those specifically, it does allow a user to see what a person is like. (Note: I am not for keeping things around just to make people look bad; I simply believe we should not be hiding bad behavior from the community to "sugar coat" anything. Personal opinion.) Although I agree with deleting what is not "needed" or is upsetting to users (really, I do), I disagree with making the Staff's job difficult. Taking away our habit/"server face"/reputation of caring about things being logged (unless absolute serious offenses) and doing things professionally (meaning we have all the information we need to professionally handle any future issues, concerns, and/or problems) is important, in my personal opinion.
I think if somebody makes a troll post, screenshot it and file a complaint against regarding that specific topic for now. This will give the staff additional power to deliver justice and bring more visibility to this issue. In the event that a troll post is decided to be deleted, the offending player should receive a forum tempban.
I have some unforseen points that I was unaware of when I brought this up. Is there perhaps a way to store deleted posts in a sort of "trash bin" instead? And also, really, if you warn them and don't link the post, how in the world are you supposed to find it again? This is my 3,500th post. Assuming my 1,354th post was a troll post, how are you supposed to know it's there and find it if you go back to check my warn record?
