Minecraft Name: Assajj_Ventress Suggestion: Ability to move your town to another free area for a price. (1 time only) must be original owner. Reason: I personaly would like to be able to have all my towns in 1 area/ close to a friend Any Other Information: just having the ability to say have nation members / friends live close to one another if there is land free. Link To This Plugin: N/A (world edit) ?
I do like this idea. Though I'm not sure if LWC permissions/trade signs are moveable with world edit and still retain their properties. Also, it might cause issues if you move a water biome to a non water biome. Maybe just a top layer and above move.
What's about something like this http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/index.php?threads/Suggestion-friend-to-friend-portal.72501/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moving a town would require the server to shut down for a long period of time. I highly doubt Andrew would consider it. Sent from iPhone - Tapatalk
no It doesnt Ive op-admined a server you dont have to shut down anything to copy and paste a large area of land... ITs actually extremely simple XD
Just curious, how would it shut down? From what im reading its just going to be worldediting the town over to a different spot and then making the region at the new town. I dont agree with this suggestion, and would rather have friend town portals, but im still curious as to why it would shut down. I've ran my own private server before and did world edits to this scale without having to shut down. Edit: Nevermind, After seeing kuke's post I think i get it ;p
All world edits give lag Larger the area the more lag And a 200x200 area is big Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What about the members of the town? They would have /homes set in the old town and those can't be manually changed or would take to long. You would need to tp them all back to their homes. Andrew would need to delete the worldguard (dunno if you can do this) then create a new one. It will basically be buying a new town. So just buy a new town and remake it or just +1 the friend portal suggestion.
Although I would love this, it doesn't work. When andrew copied spawn to the new world the server locked up for a good minute. And it resulted in some minor issues with pasting (like a column being 1 off, some blocks missing, etc) Even if everyone got only 1 relocation, that's still a couple of hundred active towns.
Wouldn't setting a very high price on something like this make it worthwhile even if it does create a few minutes of lag? For example, if the price to relocate a town was say $1mil then not many people would be able to afford that. Or maybe a better option would be to have it as a donation feature.
Would anyone relocate a town if it cost a million? I would think it's cheeper to buy new one and rebuild it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Was just thinking what about just protection relocation.. No world edit or anything needed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well it would still be a better option if you want original ownership and your next town would cost over $1,000,000. I realize this isn't the case at the moment but when the $400,000 cap ends it might be worth it.
Yes, it would indeed be much cheaper to buy a new town. However, seeing as it causes the server lag and can potentially cause other issues, a very high price will allow for it to be done on rare occasion while still allowing it to be done.
I would like to note that one reason Andrew took away worldedit applications is because those caused a lot of lag and even required the server to go down or into whitelist mode for periods of time. Just because your other servers and singleplay do not crash or lag, does not mean ECC's setup, giant map (likely more than ten times larger than you were working on), all the stuff built, etc. does not mean ECC will be the same and lagless. ECC has good server(s)/host(s), but it is much different than anything simple you were on. As for the suggestion on a high price, I still doubt it would happen... Even at a high price, taking the server down even for a few minutes, or whitelisting it, or causing severe lag, will not only cause a giant mess of upset users, but it could lose us users, lose us our high spots on voting sites (some factor in uptime in ways), and so on. Besides that, if it was 1mil(+), so few users would use it that it would become pointless to have available. That isn't even to mention any region transfer issues, such as losing members, possibly LWCs, and so on. Overall, I am -1 because there are far more cons than pros. Much as I would love the ability to physically move a town, I do not want a mess of issues.
-1 Because.. ..and you are supposed to buy new ranks to get towns/perks. Andrew Stopped worldediting because it was really buggy and laggy, so I honestly do not believe there is the slightest chance this is added.
