Problem: Abuse/spamming of shouts Proposed solution: do one of two things -- A. Add a cooldown period to the /shout command, like we have with forum posts and /smeltall and a million other commands, OR B. Have the price of shouts increase significantly with each additional shout a player makes during a particular time period. For example, call the time period 24 hours, and say the first shout is $1000, second $2000, third $10,000, and so on. I know I'm not alone in thinking that situations like this happen too often: Please don't abuse these two players in this thread: it's just an example that happened tonight, and it's being addressed. I'm just genuinely interested in whether there exists a policy solution to this problem, because it recurs no matter how often it's addressed by staff. For the benefit of players who are unaware, spamming shouts in such a way that it makes chat unreadable is already against the rules. The shouts in this picture happened within a five-second period. Well, this could solve that. I know less than nothing about programming, but I would be curious to hear, for example, how difficult it would be to add a cooldown to /shout ...
No. Shouts are fairly priced and the whole reason for them is to get your attention. In that screenshot that's already 10k gone from the economy
Well, by that logic, option two up there would be even better for the economy, and would address the issue I raised as well.
Its still against the rules, And i will assume they will get a appropriate punishment for this. Please continue to report these. I dont see a problem in added a limit, like the system that happens for spam.
Honestly, I see no reason as to why this shouldn't be allowed. It is taking money out of the economy and its quite fun to read at times.
Some of the posts here seem to be missing the point: some of us aren't particularly interested in what you're shouting. And we can't turn shouts off. So being made to listen to one, or two, is no big deal. But this picture was part of a sequence of like forty in about 90 seconds. I could give a good crap whether the server runs a crazy lotto, I'm just doing whatever boring thing I do. And I can't even see through someone else's BS to do it. This has nothing to do with taking money out of the economy, or "people getting my attention." A. I'm not suggesting we get rid of them, only fine-tune them, and B. you're not entitled to get my attention, or anyone else's, if you're going to abuse the privilege. That's my point.
Why the crap would you want to waste 120k on shouts :/. If I had that kind of money I would spend it on something nice, like supplies for my town, not to spam chat. Anyways there should be a cool down on this, it gets out of hand.
-1 I know that this can be very annoying but I can't see any other shout system taking out more money than our current one. I will gladly accept a flooded screen of chat if it is taking out 10k+ from our economy.
Money making is faster than it used to be. Perhaps it is time to change the price of a /shout to 1.5k or 2k.
ok ok ok lets take a timeout...... Your saying that i now have to pay 13k for 3 shouts? thats outrageous lmao bad enough that its 3k. And personally if i am pouring out money from the economy i dont see why spamming shouts wouldnt be allowed xD
I got np with shouts, unless a user takes up my whole screen with the same exact msg. That's where it gets ridiculus
+1 because I was trying to msg someone, but nope. Spam comes. I think the a) option is the best Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
