Ign: Tganuncio Plugin: Stock Market Reason: Well first off this is an economy server and the stock market is a MAJOR part in an economy. Also, the stock Market would benefit businesses and the economy. Link to plugin: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/stock_market/
revanrose6 Andrew could make some stocks and people who own towns and businesses can make stocks too while players on ecc would buy and sell the stock as it increases or decreases depending on the events the plugin creates
I read into it a bit, but it says that it changes randomly. I'd rather have a stock market that changes because I haven't sold any town plots in a week, not because Walmart sales went down 5% over the weekend.
Jason1964 I Get what ur saying but if it dosent change randomly then ur stock could stay neutral for 2 weeks sometimes, so if it randomized events u stock could fall and get a bigger payout because it is so low instead of it not changing
Jason1964 kukelekuuk00 it is exactly like gambling and I think it would be perfect for an economy server like this
Unless there is a way to tie a stock market into the already existing economic structure, I really don't see the point.
That's basically the only reason. There are a few others, like lag, and time taken up that could be used elsewhere. But literally, it is not a stock market if it's random. That's not called a stock market. If there were a way to have a real stock market, I'd be all for it. But this so called "stock market" is just a joke and isn't even realistic.
A stock market is not gambling, a stock market is not random. But this plugin's "stock market" is completely random, that's literally like playing the lottery, only the money gets taken from the server instead of from other players.
The fact of the matter is that there is no real reason for the stock prices to change, so there is no incentive to run a portfolio in any intelligent manner. If the plugin had a method to directly tie it into certain server specific features that allows for calculating risk, then by all means; but I feel as though the plugin was written by someone who has no idea how a stock market actually works.
