Minecraft Name: A_Magical_Dude Suggestion: I think that the staff should have to warn you via PM instead of just in global... I've been kicked and it is rather annoying that the staff are too lazy to pm me, and they just say it in global, which I am never in. (No offense staff) Reason: Like I stated before, it is rather annoying to be kicked without knowing you got a warning, and I feel that the staff should be in charge of Guarenteeing the User saw the warning. Other Information: I understand that you shouldn't have broken the rule in the first place, but, really how hard is it to type /pm (name) (warning) Link to this plugin: None, it would just be a new requirement
It has nothing to do with it being 'hard' to PM you. The fact is that we've decided that PM'd warnings have less of an impact. The players need to know that we are handling issues in global. The staff also need to know when an issue has been handled. Basically, if we began doing strictly /pm warnings we'd end up with a lot of staff complaints, and a lot more complaints about issues that were already resolved. I'm sorry that you feel you've been unfairly kicked, but if you are doing something wrong and aren't in global, then you really have two options. 1) Join global or 2) Stop doing something wrong.
An easy fix for the issue would be to install a mod such as tabbychat, with which you can set up a notification if anyone says your name, of course as @Revanrose6 stated the best course of action would indeed, not to get in the situation where you would get the warning in the first place.
I am terribly sorry if staff have given off the impression that they are too lazy to pm you, as it isn't anything like that, it takes the same effort to warn in any channel, being it pm or global. One of the primary reasons players get warned in the global channel, is so all other players can see what the user did wrong, and take example in order to not repeat those mistakes. It also makes it easier for staff to track warnings, as we may end up with the whole staff team online warning you, since they have no way to know if anyone else had warned you so far. I hope this helps, as it is always a good idea to remain in the global channel whenever you do anything trade/auction associated.
I think the embarrassment factor is a truly good one. It's a little embarrassing having a staff member tell you to stop, therefore, it is effective.
-1 I agree with raven and knears its a good idea to warn globally for embarrassment and to show players the rules of the server and how the staff enforces them
The new warning system is very effective and is basically like a shout across the server and I'll tell you, it gets my attention.
Another issue, to clarify is that other users need to know that the user has been warned. Just today, I submitted a complaint that had already been dealt with earlier in game, I simply didn't see it as it was done through PM. This would simply cause too many issues
