Minecraft Name: sick24 Suggestion: Adding a reply on the staff apps from Andrewkm Reason: We only know that we weren't selected, we don't know why. Any Other Information: We all know that Andrewkm is very busy and i know a lot of you will say that he doesn't have time to do this. Im not asking for a 5 paragraph essay about out apps, but just a sentence or two about what he didn't find appreciable in our app. I would love to know where i need to improve to become a part of the team
Staff applications are judged by staff, andrew and wewin only promote based on staff's opinion, and very rarely they have their opinion on picks. And honestly, posting in 50 staff apps and explaining why you didn't get chosen is unnecesary (not to mention a lot of work), go read all the other apps, think about what you think is best, and go with that. These are all things you need to figure out on your own, if you can't figure out what you should do and shouldn't do then you are simply not fit for staff. We're looking for staffmembers who could fit right in, not people who don't understand how to react in certain situations. Note that this is not a personal response to you, I'm not saying you would be a bad staffmember, it's simply an argument that goes against your suggestion.
I thoroughly disagree. Andrew doesn't have the time to be doing this every staff round for every application. That is 100 different responses and they all have to be tailored. This is asking a lot. If you think you are doing something wrong in your applications rethink them, look over other's apps, and maybe considered other things that may effect your staff app.
It may be different for me, but that's exactly why I can see it from both sides, I have applied multiple times in the past, and I am on staff, I can see it from the applicants and staffmembers' side. And like revan just said, writing all those posts and make them specific per person, that is so much work, even greater considering he has to read all the apps again.
That is indeed true. But this is another thing that I see, in the section of things staff should help in, but in mind the rank/Donations of the players, the help is biased. I would ask staff to read my application, and tell me where to improve on. But the problem is, I don't see myself needing to improve on anything, besides age. Which is something I really cannot improve on. As I am quite mature for my age group (In my opinion) I see myself not being picked for staff because how young I am. You can see builders coming to ask me questions on the forums, although they should have a quick and immediate help while In-game. However, I'm not saying this is because staff is not competent, but for the recognition, that they actually come and look for my help. I even had one builder, who asked for my help here on the forums, and because of my help, he decided to donate. Yet, I know I will always be seen as someone too young to take the staff role. All this, is the reason I quit. Over one year of staff applications, I was never given any type of help or chances to actually join the staff team.
But, but you can get a magical time machine for only $199.99 on eBay!! http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=160356450014
Replying to everyone would take far too much time for Andrew, Wewin, and even Staff. As well, Staff members are like everyone else--not everyone agrees with the same things. Some people like broccoli, some don't. Some like corn instead. So, what I am saying is... Sometimes you may be doing the right things in our application to some people, and sometimes you may not. If a Staff member(s), Andrew, or Wewin went around and said what you need to fix... Maybe they are telling you something you do not necessarily need to fix. Does that make sense? I have seen many people become Staff after applying many, many, many times; many changed their application only slightly throughout time. Just because you are not chosen right away does not mean you may never become Staff. Also, think of it as a job application--not all jobs tell you why you were not picked. Or, at least, I think of Staff apps kind of like job applications... Because it really can be like a job. (If it is not clear, I am against this suggestion. xP)
