I suggest that we make one day in the year staff appreciation week. Why? Well, there are so many staff members on this server. They invest massive amounts of time dealing with our complaints, requests, and other stuff they can put them under a lot of stress. They do what they have to do to keep this server up and running and they are very good at it. I don't feel that they receive enough credit for what they do. The only time I see people "thank" staff members is only after a restart occurs after some bad lag. I feel that they need to be thanked and acknowledged for everything that they do. They volunteer. They don't have to do it, but they choose to. They don't get any sort of pay and i'm sure that it would feel like a full-time job. That is why i have proposed a solution. So, What are you suggesting we do? I suggest that we make a section on the forums where we are able to post how thankful we are to have all the staff members that we do. Bare with me here, i'm just making up ideas. It could also be a week were we are just encouraged to PM them and say a few kind words. Maybe this week would be during Thanksgiving since the holiday is about giving thanks. I have only been here for 3 maybe 4 months. In that time being, I heard that Andrew sold his iPod to pay the server bill. If that doesn't speak dedication, then i don't know what does. I have never heard of anyone so devoted to what they do. With out that, this server may not be as popular as it is now. I may not even be here at all. He needs some recognition for what he does. Most people don't realize all the things that he does in the background. Heck, I don't even know what he does. All i know is that whatever he is doing, he is doing it to make the server better and make us happier than we already are. And as for the rest of the staff, this server defiantly wouldn't be here without you! You deal with all of the griefers, ragers, spammers, advertisers, hackers, scammers, complainers, ban appealers, yellers, inappropriate talkers. The list goes on and on. You make the server better for the community. You do your best to calm people down and help people when in need. Andrew has trained you all very well. To be honest, I left the previous server i was on due to horrible staff. I stayed on this one because of the environment you created and maintained. Thank you all! Staff members are just like any other player. Yes, they can kick, ban, do complaints/ban appeals and all that. But that's because, as you said, they want or enjoy doing it. I don't see much of a point in rewarding someone that wants to do what they're doing. I mean in that case, reward all the farmers! And (thought of this 2 seconds after I posted) eventually we will have lots and lots of people making blech staff apps, just to have a go at some "free stuff". More spam for staff to look for, lock, or delete. So this will do more bad than good. Lastly, I am not saying Andrewkm, or any of the staff, has done a terrible job on the server. In fact, the fact that it is taken care of so well is what I have stayed connected with ECC for. I just don't agree with free-stuff-to-all-the -mods-for-doing-what-they-like. After all, it is a survival server, isn't it?
We should all chip in money to buy Andrewkm a boat. I remember him saying that he wanted a boat. And if there's any money left over, we should buy him a Big Mac.
i agree staff work hard they get no pay and barley ever a thanks it is unfair to staff i bet sometimes they fell unapprcated i agree with this 100% and i think we should just thank staff every day for what they do
I always get kind Pm's on the forums / in-game saying how I/The staff and Andrewkm works hard on the server, and how we should keep it up; this is enough of a reward for me, I love to hear things like such. I don't think there should be a set date, just a Thank you here and there (NOT STATING THAT NO ONES DOES THAT) Is good enough.
