Minecraft Name: Rev_Worrington Suggestion: After observing the highly effective use of this proposal within similar servers as well as within many towns, I am suggesting we add Small Trade stalls to Spawn to allow for 100% safe player-to-player trading. The basic concept works that there is a redstone-operated piston/door contraption in which when two individuals stand atop two separate pressure plates located within throwing distance of one another, the piston/door block entrance to the small room. This prevents others from interrupting the trade, thus cutting down on fishers (those that attempt to grab dropped items) significantly. Reason: Although I myself have never had an item stolen in this way, I have heard many stories of this happening to other players, both within Spawn and at individual towns. I hope that this service will benefit player to player services and promote this form of transaction. Other Information: The system is designed to where one person cannot spam the redstone, as it requires two people on two separate pressure plates to activate the mechanism.
The contraption functions without pistons if a door is used. Those are two separate options. The fact that it is the user's responsibility does not mitigate the usefulness of this suggestion. If anything, it strengthens it by giving them a place to do said trade safely and effectively.
Why are you trading via throwing/dropping things instead of trade signs or donation chests? There are plenty of secure alternatives available. While a creative suggestion, I don't see a need for it. Perhaps this could be a business for you. Make a room like this and offer to allow people to trade there for a small fee.
This is a great idea, as it promotes trade. It's much faster then a trade sign or a donation chest if you don't have a portal or TP. Doing /spawn and tossing the item is much much much faster then anything else. The problem I see is, if someone goes AFK on the plate, we can't have armies of mods force tping people out of there 24/7 Also, I could easily go in the both invisible, don't stand on any plates, and wait til they toss the item, it'll land right on top of me, easy money.
I think, and I could be wrong, that certain staff members have figured out how to make things like this on ECC. The question just becomes where at spawn? Would andrew approve? Would this actually help? Why the last question? Well most players who use spawn as a trading zone are new and don't know better. They might not know better to even use the trade area. Revanrose6
There's plenty of empty space at spawn, we'll figure it out But it doesn't have to be for new players, it'll also cut down scams from higher ranking people. Besides, we'll have signs at spawn telling about it, it won't be hard to find out about, people will do it in trades all the time. Besides, the only way a builder/resident won't go there, is if they are trading with another person who is unaware of the trade area.
this is all not necessary there r plenty of places at spawn that r completely safe to trade, i have found a crap load if u want to find a secure place at spawn to trade so badly y dont u acually look around?
This was suggested a loooong time ago (HERE IS THE OLD THREAD) and was shot down by Andrew for various reasons, mainly being that it puts some of the responsibility on the server if things go wrong in a trade. As it stands now it is completely up to the players trading to secure a safe location and thus leaves the server out of the equation. Of course I'm not talking about complaints with screenshots of scamming that can be proven, but even in that case you don't get your items returned to you out of thin air from the server reimbursing you. As an example: Player12345: "You said these were SAFE trade rooms and my items still got stolen! I want my items back because you said these were SAFE rooms and I'm in the server spawn!" There are ways to get around these rooms anyways, i.e. setting a home inside the rooms.
