EcoCityCraft's Survival Games is arguably the area of most intense competition on the server. However, many use hacked Minecraft clients for financial gain and occasionally to boost their own SG points. While our current punishment (if successfully appealed) is a seven day temp-ban and at most about three chances to change, I feel the punishment should be more severe, as it does account for the extensive damage they do to our SG Stats point system. I motion that one-third of one's SG points be stricken from any player be found to be hacking. Harsh, yes, but it would absolutely remove any desire for a player to even risk running a hacked client on EcoCityCraft again.
Novel idea in theory, unfeasible in reality. SG stats is extremely hard to change - It does calculating on the fly which would make the amount of points taken go back to normal every time it calculates. It's possible to try to take away the points by taking the total points and subtracting it from the amount that was the 1/4 of the SG points, and take that amount every time it calculates. That would be very hard to implement though with SG stats in it's current system - And if implemented, it'd just make the laggy SG stats page even MORE laggy.
Why not just wipe all points? That would be easier to implement and I dont understand why cheaters should be allowed to keep 2/3rds. Just dont cheat. If you do, error of judgement okay fine but after your 7 day ban you gotta start from scratch.
Still not feasible; It doesn't matter how many points you choose to take off, it's still unfeasible for the same reasons.
You must know better than me, but I was thinking that any player banned for hacked clients could be reset to zero and the ongoing future calculations on the fly would be unneffected. But if you say it cant work, you know more about the programming than me. Okay well what about forum medals? Are they removed when someone is banned for hacked client sg?
Most SG medals have to do with SG points - And when it's difficult to wipe SG points, it's also difficult to wipe medals. Yes, they do.
If they get a balance wipe, I am confused why they need further punishment in the points area? I mean, do they REALLY matter? Honestly, the problem is the amount of chances we give hackers.
But don't you have to apply for them on forum? So couldn't they just be taken away on forum? Then it would have to be noted that that player was ineligible for reapplying for it once again.
For simplicities sake we should just match medals to listed points. Medals are really inconsequential and I don't see a real benefit to giving the SA's more work when checking medal apps.
I believe 1 ban for hacking is enough. If they appeal that ban and then manage to get themselves banned again for hacking I see no reason why they should get another chance.
Could there be some way of banning them from entering sg or pvp if they've had ban for hacking for a certain amount of time? And if they do it again once the time is up, ban them permanently. But I don't know if that is possible to implement or not. To me it seems an auto kick for black listed cheating players could be possible.
I'm not in favor of a black-and-white punishment policy like that. We should issue PermaBans only for severe offenses on a case-by-case basis. If they get banned for hacking, we really don't need them on the server. Just restricting their access to PvP-related things would be a relative slap on the wrist to hackers.
