Thread Title: I think we should be able to send money through forums. Minecraft Name: Seawiiplay Suggestion: Every Economy server has the command /pay and I think its time for Ecc to rise above the competition. It would be really useful and cool and I think we need it on Ecc. Reason: The uses would be unlimited, It would make paying people who are offline possible, Making loans and other Contracts more official, You could post a Donate button directly on forums and just in general make Money transfers easier and enjoyable. It could be send on forums on a post or through private Pm. There is alot of possibilities with this feature, I want to hear some suggestions below! This would be pretty cool, although I'm not sure if you can hook the forums up to the server's console/command prompt. You could just modify the in-game /pay command to work for offline players.
I think this a good idea however, I also think this will create more problems then it is actually worth. I believe that this will create more work for the moderators like they have not got enough on there plate as it is, I also think It will create a major problem with the loaning and paying off loans part.
With our current plugins/setup this is not possible. Of course, this could be created. But I don't see why it should, I don't see what makes this so useful. Of course, there are useful functions, but most of those things can be done with a simple tradesign and directions to the sign.
Thanks for the feedback however How will this create more problems? All it would do is make transactions on forums as well as record them in an easy to see location so mods can verify the transaction was made alot more easily.
Well, if you can't access ECC for any reason, you could pay on here. And also, quick question, how long would this take to code?
nearly all trades made in game are for in game items, there would be no real reason to send money on the forums, say your buying a town, you would want to be in game to receive the town and then while you are in game you can pay them, doing over the forums would be complicated, easy to fake, a LOT of work for the devs and not really necessary.
Sorry to say, but I think this is impossible, as others have said. Attempting to send commands from a website to bukkit won't really work, and people will definitely find exploits. It would be awesome, but it would reduce the security of ECC a lot.
if we were able to pay offline players imagine someone typing /pay bobby that would send to every player with bobby in their name! that would be insane and a good way to lose money. -.-
You got the concept completely wrong, Its for paying players directly on the forums. You find the player, click them and then click the Send $ button. You type in how much you would like to send and then It gets removed from your balance and put into theirs.
I believe that this would be pretty similar to using @ a player, you can easily select whichever bobby you would like to select
It requires our current economy system to be rewritten for offline changes, the problems with this is that it'll be extremely inefficient. Our current system keeps all users online in ram, this includes the balance. Having to take that out of the ram and into a database will slow it down, even create lag for all the requests to the database. And it may cause instability. Let's say the database server got problems or is down, you won't be able to access your own balance. Or if an error on the website deletes your balance, you would probably quit if you had a lot of money. My point is that's it's a risky thing to do.
