Minecraft Name: Alarah Suggestion: I would like to suggest a /salvage feature. I know there have been slight talks of something like this previously, but I have a slightly different approach. My idea is that we could have (find or create) a /salvage command, which would return a pre-determined % of the original materials used to create said item back to the user. I would recommend this only be used for tools, weapons and armor, at least the base salvage version. Upgrades to this could be Salvage+ the ability to use /salvage on a variety of other items in world, that can't otherwise be 'recycled'. Another option for salvage+ could be an increase in % of materials returned. Another upgrade could be Salvage+2, where you would have a chance at saving an enchant from an item (either full strength or reduced: i.e salvaged item has unb3 on it, salvage+2 users would have a chance of receiving a book with unb1, 2, or 3) again this would only be a % chance at that, seperate % from the amount of materials received. Reason: Extreme number of excess tools and items, finally give them a purpose. Opens the door to more businesses being opened, another feature ^_^ Any Other Information: Always open to constructive criticism. Please leave comments below.
This sounds cool! +1. Although usually i see tools getting donated to builders or there sold if theres a lot but this would still be interesting to try out.
+1 It irks me to no end you don't get value out of iron armor/tools even though iron is $7.50/each! Was thinking just yesterday after another gold sword from a zombie pigman it'd be great to get SOME value from it, even if it /salvaged to 1 gold bar instead of 2.
+1 This is a great idea! if I'm honest, I think I have been wanting something like this since like 2013 ;3
The easiest thing to do, to prevent accidents, would be to exclude enchanted items from it... at least at the base level of /salvage and at higher levels of the feature add a /salvageenchant or something, then you only salvage what you mean to.
it would only salvage what was currently in your hand, not everything in the inventory (if possible) similar to /repair, and /repair all, maybe?
Another option for an upgrade - to salvage enchanted items - like you said KMax with a different command! I love this suggestions btw!
I can't see it being useful for most items, but the idea of being able to break down enchanted equipment would be nice. That's the main reason why I think people would use it. Otherwise, I'd just add more server sell prices, sell to server and users, dispose/clearinventory, etc. Thing is though, there would be a lot of work involved in a salvage plugin - existing or created. Existing would need modified to be appropriate for ECC's features/functions and economy. That might also include looking through the prices on everything (or everything that is salvageable). Not everything is necessarily consistent due to rarity, attainability, dupes/exploits, kits, etc. Seems pretty easy to miss something unless it was limited to very, very specific types of items. So if it was more limited towards something like enchants, or perhaps blocks (feels like there would be the less problems), it would be simpler.. and I'm guessing targeted at what will get the most use. I don't really see the need to salvage tools (and weapons?) as they have server sell prices, and things like torches, switches, etc. don't seem worth it. Armor would be nice since it can't be sold to server (not sure why). I understand that iron, gold, and diamond equipment is made of higher-value items than they are worth to the server, but I think it'd be pretty easy to sell those to new users. And people like me who are returning with absolutely nothing item-wise or money... I'd be totally down for being that cheap gear. Even with equipment though, that could potentially have an effect on things like fishing money per hour - depending on the salvage and fishing percentages - as it gives you tons of random equipment (including gold).
+1 and allow other items to be broken down as well (anvil for iron, beacon for nether star/obsidian) for those that don't/can't use those items and wish to use the materials for something else
I just want to be able to turn all of that trash ... err ... treasure I get from fishing and turn the leather into books. Doubling the price of fish has been awesome and we went from 3-4k per hour to 6-8k - this option may make it close to 10k.
I know the devs have their hands full but i just wanted to bump this as it's gotten quite a bit of feedback. Just wanted to make sure it doesn't get too lost bumpeh
