Thread Title: A new way to auction services Minecraft Name: sick24 Suggestion: Creating a General Knowledge about a new way to use auction chat. Reason: Not only have I pondered this for a while but I believe it will help many ECC users Other Information: Okay bear with me and please read all of this: My idea pertains to a few people who have to constantly ask in trade chat to buy a service when we all know someone is online who can do the service. My idea is to allow them to go into Auction Chat and conduct a 'Reverse Auction' to find the service. For example the auction may look like this; sick24: **Reverse auction** Buying a lift sign starting at 350! Skylexia: 350 sick24: 350 heard! zardgyer: 325 @reverse lift sick24: 325 heard! Skylexia: 300 sick24: 300 heard! The bidding downward would continue until the normal auction rules of going once, twice, third come into play and a winner is declared. Note: The auction holder would have to CLEARLY state that this is a reverse auction; such as in the example. In case this confuses anyone this is an explanation. The auction holder is trying to find the cheapest amount of money that he can get a service for. The bidders will continuously bid down the price until the auction holder declares it sold Link to this plugin: N/A Chat already running
I too have actually thought about this recently. I think it would be a very good addition so long as the player makes it extremely clear
Everything is confusing, that is, until you learn how. I think this is a grand idea, and will create some friendly competition I have problems selling my items some times, this way i can get my stuff out there if someone asks Would also be great if i need an oddball item or two.
Great idea. My main question is this: if we do this, would we then be forcing them to buy at the won price just like a normal auction, no matter the result?
~A reply to the comments so far: Yes, I do realize that it could and most likely will become very confusing so ECC will have to implement a proper notification system such as having the user put Reverse in front of every bid etc. ~Rabidworm, yes all the normal auction rules apply so you would be forced to buy it
OHH I get it now! Too bad I do features free, as do a lot of people. But other than that, +1! Lovin the idea!
So wouldnt that be like you starting a eff4 pick at 20k, but people want it cheaper so they down bid that price, if this is what your talking about i think it would be great.
You can set bid increments to like 500 so people dont dropp the bid to like a 5k item and they drop it to 500 just to troll.
Yes, you could say that you were buying an eff4 pick and then people would bid it down to sell it to you
No no, as in, your sitting there in your cozy mansion and your like "I want an eff4 pickaxe." So you go to auction and say "Reverse auction, Eff4 Pickaxe, starting at 8K" Then someone who wants to sell their eff4 pick would say "8K!" Then someone else would see that and be like, "Hey! I want to see my eff4 pick too!" So they go "7.5K!" And eventually if the price went down to 5k and no one wanted to sell their item lower, you'd go pay 5k for the item.
I have thought of this, I knew the second you said reverse auction that it was with feature, regarding all players that are confused, you would have already have t have donate so I hope the player would have an idea of what was going on.
I love the idea. The only problem I see is that people are greedy. If someone wants to pay $200 for something, I don't see people offering to do it for less. Again though, great concept... I unfortunately just don't see people following along.
