A couple months ago I lost an EFF 7 pick in the mining world by falling. After that happened I looked through the donation features to see what would be the best to prevent losing items again from falling. Tombstone looked to be the best option, it will put your items in a locked chest so the butcher cannot get it and another player cannot pick them up. You also have a time limit to be able to retrieve it. I figured this would solve any possibilities of losing items from falling.... I was wrong.... Tonight while running through the mining world I fell into a hole and died.... during the fall I assumed my stuff would be secure and I could go retrieve it... well when I hit the ground tombstone failed to secure my items. I lost over 10k worth of items due to the donation feature not working like it was supposed to. Lost Items: Maxed out silk touch pick Pumpkin Axe Maxed our sheers Maxed out fishing rod There were other items but nothing as valuable as these 4. Once I spoke to Lavajok he informed me that its a buggy donation. The fact that this is known to not work 100% of the time but yet its advertised as "The tombstone feature will assure you that when you die your items are safe and sound waiting for your return!" is a lie. I thought I was assured to be able to get my items, but that's not true. Since this feature does not do what it says 100% of the time I think it should be removed from donation list until it can do what its advertised to do. If I would have known that tombstone fails on occasion I would have never purchased it. Its just bad business to promote a product/donation as a feature when it doesn't work all the time especially if its known to be buggy and mess up without some sort of disclaimer to the consumer. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of buying tombstone. -Bago
Base on others, the command /back with tombstone is always a good strategy, and I recommend getting /back as well.
I think since tombstone does not work 100% of the time that you should get /back included with tombstone. This way if tombstone doesn't kick in the player still has a chance to get their items. If I would have lost my EFF 7 again due to this I might have flipped my desk that I play MC at lol.
Bago, I understand your frustration, however, if you read the description for tombstone, it clearly states that it is best used with the /back command. You had 72 hours to retrieve your items in your chest unless I have misread the information. When donating, it is imperative that you read and understand exactly what it is that you are purchasing - that is your responsibility. The donations have been broken down like they are to offer you a choice of which commands you would like to have as some would like /back but not need tombstone and would not want to pay the high amount required for both. Oh, and it helps increase the amount of money that the server can generate.
Admiral the issue is that tombstone failed. It did not put my items in a chest so I could retrieve them. They were laying on the floor. The butcher had taken them before I could return. If they went into the chest I would have had 72 hours to locate them which I could have done. The issue is it did not spawn a chest and just left all my items on the ground for the butcher to take. I agree with BagoSchwago. In the description of Tombstone it clearly states that upon death your items will be placed inside of a chest. We paid for the donation feature, and it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. How dumb. I would ask Andrewkm for a refund for this glitchy donation feature. If you paid for a toy that doesn't work, wouldn't you want a refund? It's the same thing. Please refund the donation feature and in return get a 15$ ecc gift card. You shouldn't have to buy the /back command too with a glitchy bug. That's basically scamming more money. Just my opinion.
I remember that somewhere it is stated that Tombstone (unless this has changed) only works in certain regions - I don't remember the details, but it was something along the lines of... either non-protected or protected, and not in PVP areas. Might also have been that if the chest cannot LWC lock itself (mentioned in the donation description), the chest will not be created. Considering there is no LWC in the Mining World, that could be the issue. Don't quote me on it, though. All I know is that there were specific variables about Tombstone on whether it would or would not create a chest. Many have also said it is buggy for them, and others say it never has been. I don't think anyone has actually confirmed it is, so that is why it hasn't been fixed. And, because of that, Andrew unfortunately cannot remove the donation feature, as so many people have donated for it before (especially when it worked near-flawless in the beginning). He would lose money; and giving so many people GiftCards and removing it from so many people would not be a logical task. I would only suggest to put the region-specific info in the donation description, and put in red text a warning that SOME users may find it buggy. EDIT: To note, Tombstone is also a stepping stone to Tomestone+, which saves your EXP upon death. That complicates it more when it comes to removing and/or refunding.
That's still terrible. Imagine you buy a laptop that doesn't work half of the time. After you buy the laptop they change the description to say "Some people who have bought the laptop says it doesn't work half the time". Andrewkm either needs to fix the donation so it isn't buggy anymore, or refund us in ECC Gift Cards.
I think it just needs to have a disclaimer added to it stating that this might not work all the time rather than saying "The tombstone feature will assure you that when you die your items are safe and sound waiting for your return!" I contacted andrew and let him know how I was upset that it didn't work and cost me to lose some items. Although I cannot get those items back, ( Glad it wasn't my EFF7 or MS) I can get those again pretty easily. He was willing to exchange it for another feature so I switched it to /back. I guess I just have to take the gamble that the butcher could take my items before I can /back. Somehow I think I rather risk this than tombstone failing completely. The only suggestion is that maybe since tombstone is glitchy and we all know it that /back and tombstone should be combined into one donation but ultimately its andrews server and he will do what he wants. -Bago
I actually did not think that was even possible. Now if the disclaimer was added it would really help a lot.
It's been a little while since I've looked into tombstone.... but way back when it had a couple of conditions for activation: You had to have build rights to the area - This is so players can't grief other peoples towns with chests. There needs to be space to place the chest - Tombstone will not break blocks to place the chest - This means there needs to be 2 blocks of 'air' directly above where you died With these two conditions in mind, this feature is incredibly useful in say the mining world, but rather useless in say pvp. If you think about it, both conditions make logical sense, and therefore shouldn't be 'fixed'. For example, I don't think you would be very happy if upon falling from a height onto your best friends prized "andrewkm" head, you returned to the spot to find his smiling face replaced with a chest containing a stone pickaxe.
One problem though Kh, I think it needs LWC permission to set the lock. Locks cannot be set in the mining world, so players have lost there stuff there. As of right now, from what I understand, its only working in towns where the player has permissions and in the wild. Not in mining or nether.
Hmm, that might eb true, when I was using it on another server, we didn't have LWC installed, but its been a long time...
If it is the locking part that is giving this feature it's issues in the mining world, I'd think the best course of action would be to disable that. If someone happens to find your chest before you can get back to it, well then that's too bad I suppose.
I agree about unfairness and gravity of how serious this current situation is wrong, about andrew still advertising tombstone like it has no problem and selling, when it has lots of problem from glitch or bug. And also do agree that if andrew is not going to fix this problem completetly with 100% activation of the chest, I also think it should be removed, or just get combined with "/back", and refund all the tombstone owners for ecc giftcard credits. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And this may be some different story, but I always wanted to post suggestion, but I am just replying here. I personally was planning to get TombStone+, after I read that, TombStone: *Feature is available in the mainworld/aether/miningworld!* TombStonePlus: *Feature is available in the mainworld/aether/nether/miningworld!* in Donation Information page. It really sounded like TombStonePlus is working in Nether because of "/nether/", which is very wrong. After I read that I was like.... "Oh!! That's why Plus is double priced($30 usd) than normal one($15 usd), since nether is pvp allowed, and there is threat from other players who is attacking you. OK right now, I am immuned to all kinda death possibility, because already have Fly+(fall damage), Water+(suffocation damage, falling gravel), and Pyro+(fire & lave damage), so I thought I would never need tombstone, but now I have reason to get this feature! This can be insurance from pvp threat while traveling nether! " What a joke.. This is what I was thinking which is completely wrong.... (-_-)... lol Because pvp zone does not allow any LWC, tombstone is not working. I figured it out by asking staff, and testing it with someone. But I think, if they are fixing Tombstone to make it work properly 100% of times, this should also be changed to what I expected. So that price of Plus, $30 USD would be worth for what it does. Or if it's not gonna change, it is definitely overpriced just for keeping exp from death. Tombstone is the one of the only two features that Plus feature is more expensive than normal one, along with ExtCommand+. And I 100% agree with Extcommand+'s price, because importance of erepair and anvil access, is critical. But there is just no reason why TombStone+ should be $30 usd, if it's not working in nether. And if andrew is not going to change for allowing TombStone+ to work in Nether, than I guess that description up there in Donation Information page, should be fixed, or it will only cause confusion and misdirection to players, just like me. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My point is, I completely agree that there is something wrong, with just leaving tombstone like that, if it's not working 100% properly. And it should either be fixed to work well, or it should be removed, or combined with /back. And player should get refund through giftcard credits. And also, my personal suggesstion is, if tombstone is being fixed, I want TombStonePLUS should be working on nether, or if not, then that description in Donation Information page should be fixed. I cracked up when ShawnMcCall said an example about Laptop. lol.. It's perfect example. This donation feature is REAL MONEY deal.. when you are selling stuff for real money, you have to be responsible, to 100% way for fairness of deal between seller and customer. Andrew should aware that, and take this tombstone case more seriously.
