Is it possible to remove the mail information when you type in /feed or /fix Shown below: The "You have 5 messages!" is kinda annoying to constantly see. Its enough to see it once you warp to anther location and when you log on.
it will say "You have no new mail" and some people like to keep the mail they receive as it contains useful information
It doesn't say it if you don't have mail. Otherwise it just sends it whenever you have a message from essentials
Essentials doesn't track which messages you've seen so if you want to keep messages you're gonna see all the messages. I'd personally prefer we keep all the messages because I like seeing that I have mail as soon as I get it if I'm online
Right but is there no way to disable it for when doing /fix and /feed. I like to see it when i first get online but after that its excessive Right but some people have hundreds of mails. Can't honestly expect them to write it all down. It's also convenience, keeping all the minecraft server related things together instead of having a page of random mails received somewhere else. Im just trying to make the point that the extra "you have mail" notifications are excessive and unneeded
It just sends it on ANY essentials notification with no distinction - Jamie would need to build in some sort of way to do that which I think he'd be unwilling to do considering people can just clear their mails. I mean I've been around nearing 5 years now and I've never gotten a mail I've needed to keep... They're not if you keep a clean mailbox, then the system is letting you know as soon as you get a mail. Which I like, since I keep a clean mailbox.
I do agree the message is excessive, and that people might have hundreds of mails, but the price of convenience is the notification of the fact that you have mail. The messages that occur with every Essentials message serve to notify you that you have something in your mailbox, and for most people, it does that exact purpose perfectly. If you’re unwilling to type out your mail in an application like Notepad (or its Mac/Linux alternatives) you can always enable the console in your launcher and copy and paste the messages aswell. And to answer your question, there is no config option (at least one that I remember) that disables the message. We’d need to go into the source and modify the code to get rid of it (or disable mail permissions altogether). For a function that works for the majority of users, it’d be a waste of time to fix something that isn’t broken.
-1 In my opinion this shouldn't be removed, this takes time from Jamie to code/change config and time that is needed in several other stuff first, also this helps me confirm that I fixed my tools or fixed anyone else's while giving e-reps. Here is how to solve the problem.
Everything takes time away Jamie to code/config... And the second part you mentioned, i think you misunderstand my suggestion, its to remove the mail information that appears, not the information that tells you if your tools been repaired. and admiralD's comment is not a solution, its just a temporary fix
Just seeing a flaw with your statement - how can it be a solution if the problem comes back And we get notified of any new mail whenever we log in or warp to a location<- I gotta double check that second one, can’t remember if it actually gives the message
The problem isn't "I don't ever want to see mail notifications", the problem is "I don't want to be continuously reminded of mails unless I receive a new one", so /mail clear actually is the solution.
Actually the problem is “I don’t want to see my inbox whenever I type a command completely unrelated to mails (specifically feed and fix)” And the problem will appear every time you receive a mail, therefore it’s not a permanent solution, just a temporary fix.
Because that's literally what this part of the plugin was made for - to send you a very noticeable alert when you receive a new message.
Not going to completely overhaul essentials because people are whining about getting spammed from a notification that is designed to make you clear your inbox, and not doing so.
