[Suggestion] Ratings

and then it becomes the winner rating, then it becomes the useful rating, then it becomes the informative rating. it doesn't end.

 

I'm spammed by two males with the creative rating all the time. +1 This has got to go..

 

-1. There's a very recent thread about this already. Eventually all the ratings would be gone.

Most cases of Creative rating trolling I see are on people who are notorious trolls, rulebreakers, noobs, and anyone who has given themselves a bad reputation in some form. Other times it is usually from someone who is trying to be a cool troll but really isn't, so it shouldn't be taken personally. :/

(Note the "most cases." -.- I know it happens out of the blue for people too, but what people are mostly seeing is because of a user's behavior that "asked for" the rating being used as a troll. Personally, I find it the "victim's" (I wouldn't call them that) behavior that provokes the trolling, and therefore their fault. (Note again, NOT ALWAYS.) I know I am being harsh, but that is just how I see it. I've had it happen to me multiple times, too, and when I step back, I can usually see why. It's almost always my own fault. I've seen it a lot over the past 7 years, too. Trolls go after the people who are most easy to bother, after all (or they are trying to be a good troll and even bother those who aren't easily bothered).)

Creative is used for trolling, that is indeed a fact, but if it were to be removed the trolling community would just switch over to another rating.

I'd say just let the trolls rate the posts creative. You get ratings and it kinda stops the trolling from getting worse. People rate things because they don't want to post on it or bring it into global to discuss their opinion. If they were able to just rate it creative to show that they disagree and move on its just better in the long run.

But how am I supposed to know when people think my posts are creative? I say people should just toughen up and stop taking petty trollings so seriously, especially for something that has no significance in the real world. Now if we could just stop wasting my time with these suggestions, that would be appreciated. -1

I completely agree that the Creative rating is almost purely used for trolling at this point, but like others have pointed out, removing the rating will not solve the problem. If Creative ratings are removed, it will simply be replaced with another rating. However, in my opinion something SHOULD be done about it. Most forum rating trolling occurs in the Ban Appeal/Complaint section, so I personally believe ratings should be removed from that section of the forums altogether. There's no point in rating Complaints or Ban Appeals, it's not a matter of opinion, nor are they something the community is supposed to comment on and critique. Rating a ban appeal/complaint most of the time stops a user from taking it into global or posting on that complaint. As i said above it allows them to voice their opinion without having to feel the need to voice their opinion in global. Removing the system from ban appeals/complaints will be just as counter-productive as removing it all together.

 

I disagree. People rate threads in many cases because they can troll and get away with it. It's against the forum rules to post unnecessarily in a Ban Appeal or Complaint, but there's nothing out there about forum ratings. Since there's nothing "wrong" with it, rules-wise, trolls use ratings like Creative to belittle a player's post. Just because they're not actually commenting doesn't mean it's not wrong.

That's not to say only trolls use ratings in Ban Appeals and Complaints. Winner/Agree ratings are used to show support. I don't have a huge problem with this, but it simply doesn't need to be in that section of the forums. As I said in my last post, Ban Appeals and Complaints aren't meant to be something up to the discussion of the players. So, in my opinion, there's no real need for the ratings.

I understand your point that players would take their opinions elsewhere if they couldn't use forum ratings, but I think you're overestimating the effect of forum ratings. The fact is, if someone has something to say about a Ban Appeal or Complaint, they're going to say it, forum rating or not. In the Ban Appeals, people will rate Creative *and* post their opinion, so I really don't think it would have as big of an affect as you claim it will.

 

It never used to bother me, but now I'm getting sick of it.
I post one complaint that someone dislikes, and I get 4 or more of them.

I'd say remove all ratings from ban appeals and complaints, because people are using ratings to say "no you're wrong" when they aren't supposed to post opinions in the first place.

 

That is not why you got the ratings. You bossing others around in your complaint is why. Also, creatives don't always mean "dislike". It also means funny, as to why you got them.

 

"Please do not rate this post creative" is not bossy. I don't know how you think it is.

And my complaint wasn't creative or funny at all. The only reason I got them was because they are trying to get away with saying "No" on my thread without technically breaking any rules.

 

If you put "Please do not rate" its just going to make them rate it MORE. Trust me, I've been through that, people used to hate it when i made complaints. I just get over it, if they want to give me trophy points and ratings then hell if I care, thanks.

 

I have to -1 BUT if you wouldn't mind me suggesting Starleana maybe you should change this from (in general) to just for complaints? I have a feeling this is what you mean by bulling?
