*ANY EDITS TO THE THREAD SINCE ITS CREATION ARE OUTLINED IN GREEN* Many people have recently been posting on one of my latest suggestions about plot owners and how unfair some of them are being treated, with many Mayors evicting players so that they can re-sell old plots without giving sufficient warning. You can find the thread here. Someone, in fact, I think several, people said "Check the mayor before you join any town." But where do I check? There's no in-game rate-the-mayor board, there's no way you can check. But that's what I'm proposing. At the top of this website itself, by the menu for the different sections of the website, a RateMyMayor tab. Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring to you my latest suggestion, the RateMyMayor website. How it works is simple. You can click on the tab and there's a page for every single town, each page created when the town is requested. You can click, much like a forum, on any town, and it will give a brief description of it, such as the following: Of course, town types, descriptions and services can change, and the Mayor of the town will have the ability to go to the RateMyMayor site and change these options. I suggest that the Co-Mayor and Population parts are automatic based on the server's /region command, but this can be hard to implement so maybe the Mayors will just have to keep track of this. A town rules section can be added, maybe, and a nice town picture can be used. So, what is the Mayor's rating? This can only be assessed by anyone with Town Membership for 5+ days and is done anonymously. It is accessed by clicking on a "Rate This Mayor" button below the information. This is how it can look like: The ratings will then be published below the town profile. You can see individual ratings as well, and there should also be an ability for Mayors to reply back to any comments. Mayors who evict or maltreat their residents for giving them unwanted ratings will have their towns seized or will be banned. This is to encourage more ratings as players will not feel threatened to have Mayoral Action taken against them. This includes failing or delaying to give town services to them. Seized towns may be resold by the server, or given to a Co-Mayor if there is one found. What will this help do? Firstly, it can provide an easy way for people to be able to assess towns before buying a plot in them. Secondly, it can give the Mayors an insight on how their residents think they are doing. I can find two flaws, however, in my ideas. No, actually, make that three. Here's what they are and a possibility on how to resolve the problem: Sold towns. If a town is sold to another Mayor, then the Moderators will need to know so the settings of the Town Profile can be modified. Old Ratings. I suggest that ratings are reset every two months, but can still be accessed by clicking an "Older Ratings" button at the bottom of the page. Too hard to implement. This is the one flaw I genuinely can't think of how to resolve, if it is too hard to implement. But given the advanced options on this site, maybe that won't be the case at all. If any more flaws are detailed in the replies, they'll be added to my list in a yellow text. Well, I'll finish talking and leave it to you guys to respond and develop or rate my RateMyMayor ideas. Feel free to reply and use the poll as well.
I meant for everyone to be able to see the poll results. Oops. I'll update you guys on the poll results instead. I'll be 100% honest.
Current Poll results: Yes, I'd like to see this implemented as it affects me 1 vote(s) 20.0% Yes, it won't affect me but I'd like this idea 1 vote(s) 20.0% I couldn't care 3 vote(s) 60.0% No, it won't affect me but I dislike this idea 0 vote(s) 0.0% No, it's a waste of time that can be spent on other suggestions 0 vote(s) 0.0% No, I don't want to receive harsh critisisms 0 vote(s) 0.0%

Matberry, you can see the results after you vote... But i LOVE this idea, I'll totally backing you on this one. But you need to add a few things. Example. Something along lines of, "Number of people/open plots/plot prices/plot sizes. It would be up to mayor to make this "Town Report". If the mayor doesn't, tough luck, people might look elsewhere. All staff would have to do is make the format/link buttons. You could remove the "Grief amount" Town can't control it, plus we want this to be easy on the staff (so it gets added ) This would be totally a player-made thing. Also...punishment for fake advertising? If mayor fakes report players can report for that? Lower time for voting reset to 1 Month. A lot can happen in 2 Months. 6 out of 5 stars on this one
The type of town that the town is is constantly changing. Also this would take tons of time to put into effect since there are hundreds of towns on ECC.
Like i said, staff makes format, up to mayors to really do the grunt work. It's not that hard to program a short feature that mayors would fill out.
I do like the ideas of just the staff making the format, but I feel as though that lands too much to do for the Mayor. Nevertheless, good idea. Thanks, Jason, for the 12 alerts you gave me this morning! Really cheered my day up!
Ehm...thanks? Anyway, it doesn't put that much on a mayor really. All he's doing is putting in this chat. Watch, I'll fill out my own town. Town Name: Doetinchem Town Mayor: Kevindynamite Town Co-Mayors: Jason1964 Town Type: Residential Town Description: Nice small town with good prices, has a small shop run by co-mayor, nice friendly people Town Services: Water Table, Public Enchantment Table Grief Rate: ( with probably 100+ towns we shouldn't have this because it is more stress for staff) Mayor Rating: Votes Pending
Now that honostly took me less then 2 minutes. Edit: As to not waste this post, I'm editing in another point i wanted to make. I wanted to clarify my reasons behind not having a grief rating (besides my already stated reason: staff workload). Grief is random and uncontrolled, when you let people into the town you don't know if they are griefers, someone who unluckily ran into a string of griefers (lets say 3 in a row) would get a bad town rating/ possibly less business. And, i'd suggest, adding a "Plot Prices" catigory, mayor would list plot sizes (even prebuilt homes) and plot prices (or prebuilt house prices) And of course, a spot they could put town rules and photos. I can only see one major flaw in your idea...False reports. Players could file a false report (they don't like mayor, have a grudge, just trolling, ect ect) for many reasons. I would hope most players were honest (and most all), but there are always trolls, griefers, and every once in a while, the angry player who got griefed. I wouldn't see a need to post private town info. Just have an option to put [Closed] or [Private] or something next to the town name on the list (the list of all the towns with info posted that is).
A suggestion like this one will take some time to create, what with formats needing to be added. The Grief Rate will provide endless stress for moderators, but would be quite nice to see.
this could be a fanbased website controlled by players i could help making it as im a php sql web developer myself id support it even help make the site +1
Lol i have but another comment to make. So far this is shaping up into a grand idea I read earlier that residents of the town can choose or not choose to let their name be shown when they use ratemymayor ( in comments section as i remember). It would be better to not let rater/voter show their name at all. A mayor could easily evict someone (for giving bad rating) and disguise it behind other reasons, or puff up a false report.
As implied in the suggestion, every vote will be anonymous, and only if the player specifically says that he voted in the comments will it be clear who posted what comment. That's a good idea too, and could even make some money for any players who choose to run it. I didn't originally want this as if Andrew supports, then so will the rest of ECC. Will the rest of ECC support if it's made by (one of) their players?
Yes, I'd like to see this implemented as it affects me 5 vote(s) 23.8% Yes, it won't affect me but I'd like this idea 5 vote(s) 23.8% I couldn't care 7 vote(s) 33.3% No, it won't affect me but I dislike this idea 1 vote(s) 4.8% No, it's a waste of time that can be spent on other suggestions 1 vote(s) 4.8% No, I don't want to receive harsh critisisms 2 vote(s) 9.5%
Mayors who evict or maltreat their residents for giving them unwanted ratings will have their towns seized or will be banned. This is to encourage more ratings as players will not feel threatened to have Mayoral Action taken against them. This includes failing or delaying to give town services to them Is this a suggested rule?
