Minecraft Name: Dccciz Suggestion: To privatize the staff application section. Only staff can see applications, no feedback. Reason: I feel that users who have no clue how to react to some situations are just paraphrasing the responses that former staff members give. If I wanted to create a staff application as of a week ago, I probably had around 50+ applications to steal from, and around 5+ of them were actually accepted. I know that staff doesn't 100% go off of the application, but what's the point in testing people's decision making abilities while we're giving them the answers? Also, for the argument "oh but I want to see how people would react to some situations!", just observe their behavior ingame. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: Forums
I see what you mean, but what do you suggest for leaving feedback? Just some sort of post, or post something on their wall? The applications, at least to me, is where people leave feedback for the applicant, and i dont see where else this could be sent.
I know staff can see edited posts - could it be possible to have users edit out their posts so that only staff can see?
Other then editing it out themselves, staff would have to come in. I still think that comments on a staff application are the best way to go.
I'm suggesting that after someone posts their staff app, they edit it out to "edited" or something. Can't staff members still see the application?
We can, but I'm not sure that most users would actually do it unless an automated system was put into place, otherwise if a player doesnt do it, staff are stuck doing it.
3 day app ban + deletion for not editing a comment? Even with the 4 apps or so that we have out now, thats 13 comments sa of this post. Thats 13 possible people to get their apps locked. If they dont have an app, theres no motivation to edit your comment.
I think you're misinterpreting something here. The suggestion was to edit out the staff app itself, not any comments on the app. The staff app would be edited so only staff could see it, and nothing would be done with the comments.
Kuke's got the idea It's only to prevent people from "cheating" off of apps. Anyone can comment or leave ratings, etc. However, the feedback would only be based off of someone's actions, not answer that they could've gotten from someone else.
I thought about this when we were changing the policy, and agree with the idea behind it. However, the problem lies in implementation. Right now there are 2 simple options: 1. The current setup. Apps and responses are all viewable. 2. Make it like the LWC forum. Apps are only viewable by staff. The solution proposed by "editing" the applications I think is messy and is not something I'd want to add. Not only would it be an issue for the initial post, but a quite tedious effort if someone wanted to edit something in their application.
Maybe we have a subforum which is private like LWC? and people post their hypotheticals in a separate private post, the rest in a public post.
I'd like to see all apps go to a moderated forum only staff can see. It would entirely prevent flaming, drama, and app stealing.
The thread moderation feature of XenForo could be used for this. However it would mean that applications can only be seen by the staff team and no one can repond to them.
This That way we don't get the flaming some people get on their threads But we also get rid of the friends +1ing another friends purely off that reason. (You can be a friend of someone but think they aren't fit for staff) Comments aren't taken into account anyways by mods decisions, most of the time, if its something that needs to be known about that user, the staff team know it anyway. So make it all like the LWC section
