Suggestion: Bring back potion splash Why: The potion market is bad. I sell potions for $10 and no one ever buys. You use gunpowder to make splash potions. Gunpowder is a semi-rare item that can be added back into the items that people actually want. This would increase the price and demand of potions given PvP. Additional Persuasion: PvP would be sweet! People have insane armor and weapons as it is, splash potions would give people unseen advantages. No more targeting the dude with no armor. TL;DR Splash potions improves PvP, markets involving potions.
+1 from me, the potion market is so terrible, there is no way to make money fast in this market, not even really a good job for extra money on the side
If they were enabled again, it would allow people to kill people in the main world with poison potions, and harming potions.
Is there a way we can enable it just for PvP? Please excuse my lack of knowledge regarding plug-ins and the like.
Sounds good on the outside, maybe not so good on the inside. Assuming for the moment yes, you can only use them inside pvp arenas (as in, they wouldn't even be allowed to be thrown unless you were on a pvp block). Then yeah, this might be a good idea. Assuming what i said above is true, here are the pro's and con's. Pros: Helps potion market. (In turn, helps economy.) Makes Pvp more interesting. More people might want to play Pvp. Cons: Lag, now before you dismiss this one, believe me, there is SOMEONE out there who will spam these potions on the ground in attempting to lag the server. Or perhaps, it will just be a side effect that can't be helped. What if you stand in the arena, and try to throw a potion outside the arena? I tend to doubt the plugins will make the potion go away in mid air when it hits the pvp border. Assuming it works the same way arrows do, we have nothing to worry about.
This would not help the potion market, which in my view if a thriving market with plenty of money to be made. If I were to buy 3 fire res splash pots I could use 1 to add this ability to myself and any of those around me. This would mean those people would not have to go buy potions themselves. However much I would like this I do not believe it is good for the economy. It will cause lag and will come with many bugs. -1
Assuming it can be used anywhere, yes, it will have lag. But I'm curious, where do you get the idea there will be a lot of bugs?
With all new things implemented there will be, most likely, conflicts in coding, with all the plugins ECC has there is probably going to be a snippet of coding somewhere that will cause a bug.
I tend to disagree. This is a base element of minecraft that was removed. I don't see how it would cause a bug. It's like dirt blocks causing a bug.
Plugins, especially custom ones, may have bugs that conflict with splash potions or elements or them, these bugs will not have been found because we have not had splash potions.
I agree, ECC has too many of the core elements of minecraft disabled, bringing back splash potions would be a good implement.
ECC doesn't have that much stuff disabled. Besides redstone stuff which i don't use, (pistons, tnt minecraft, hopper, ect) Pistons and cactus, and yes, splash potions are the only things disabled. The only thing close to core element would be cactus, but i see what you mean.
The thing with this is that res and health splash potions and (i think) won't be used as much. For the most part it will be poison and damage. Not to mention splash potions would be more expensive both because of the rare material used in them, and because you can give effects to other people. And those people who were splashed with a positive effect would still go buy potions...their effects last max of eight min. Bugs might be a problem, but as others have said, that comes with everything.
I still rather doubt there will be many major bugs. What in-game items have actually been added to the game? You can't place a potion, so trying to, investigate it, place water/lava on it, vanish while standing on it, superbreaker or mcmmo it wouldn't cause any bugs. You can only hold it in your inventory and throw it. Snowballs don't have any bugs that i know of, except perhaps tossing them outside of pvp deals damage, so there you might have 1 or 2 bugs. You can't sort your inventory or anything, so holding it in your inventory wouldn't really cause any bugs, and you can't craft it into something, or use it in a furnace. There are trade signs though, but I've never heard of something not working in a trade sign. But maybe pushing it again, you have 1 or 2 bugs. So when you think about it, it doesn't interact really with anything bug causing.
