Minecraft Name: Jason1964 Suggestion: I suggest that there be a way to tag a mod in an "off the job" way. So that when you tag them, they wouldn't respond to it ASAP as staff. Reason: Many times I've needed to tag someone for a personal reason, a thread about them, or just to have them on a list of something. But whenever that user is a staff member, I cannot tag them because of forum rules. Now I know some staff will overlook non-urgent tagging if they are included in a list or something. But sometimes I need to tag them just for non-staff reasons. Staff usually respond as fast as they can to people tagging them because it might be urgent. Just having a way to tag them that wouldn't require rule breaking would be nice. Any Other Information: Not sure how hard this would be to add, but if possible, I'd like to see it. Hello, I don't know about other staff, but, I feel this depends on the situation. Example: I'd say unless it is an extremely urgent issue you never tag AndrewKM or WeWinAgain. However, other staff understand that we are also players and may get tagged in certain things. Tagging mods into LWC requests, Grief reports etc, unless explicitly told to do that, is not a good idea. That is when I feel a rule is being broken. I understand however if I get tagged in a post that someone wants to say something to me and I feel that is fine. I get tagged in at least a dozen non staff related posts a week. This doesn't really bother me and I don't feel its against the rules. The only mention in the rules about tagging is: This is located in Section VIII, if anyone wants to look it up themselves. Personally, I feel seriously needed is something that needs to be looked at objectively. Do you feel that person (staff or not) needs to be in that post? Are they already watching that post? (this is activated by simply talking in the thread). If they are already watching it (assuming they don't unwatch it) then there is no need to tag them except to get their attention even quicker. All I am saying is, tagging staff, like tagging players, could be abused, but, you won't really get in trouble unless you abuse it. Think to yourself if this really needs to be a tag and then go from there. Revanrose6
Well of course, no one really Tags Andrew or Wewin for anything besides staff issues. I looked up the rules on the wiki, and didn't find it. But I have seen many times where someone tags staff (for non-staff issues) and gets warned "not to tag staff unless absolutely needed." And I almost never see people that get tagged and then show up and get angry because they were tagged. Sometimes even when I'm already watching posts (was aware about the post/watch) and someone tags me, I rather like it, because I know it's usually urgent.
I see this, too. However, I usually see it on threads/posts that really hold no... 'value,' or are trying to get staff's (or any member)'s attention /just/ for the attention. Every staff member is different, though, and they may know other staff members well--and know those staff members, personally, don't want to be tagged unless it /is/ important. At the OP, though; I am not sure it is possible to add any other form of tagging on the forums. :/ It may also encourage more spammy tagging (unless it can be disabled). Although, it would be nice... I would like to tag some close friends who happen to be on staff now, but I am worried about tagging them if another staff member will come in and warn me. Only easy/at-the-moment solution I can think of is to PM the staff member (title starting with "unimportant/not immportant/etc") if you are unsure about tagging them. Just give them a heads-up that they are mentioned in a thread you mentioned them in, if they are curious. (You'd also be surprised how many members search for their name... That's why many people mentioned and untagged find forum threads in sections they rarely look at. xD)
I will give my person opinion... Just remember I speak for myself and no one else. I don't care if you tag me in something, just make sure it is somewhat appropriate. I'm not horribly mean so I won't yell at anyone for tagging me in non-staff related business. I am a member of the community too. I don't like being tagged in appeals and complaints with the intentions of me answering them right away. That doesn't help. Same with staff requests. I do those periodically, and they will be done eventually. Every other type of tagging is fine for me, but please make sure it has somewhat of a purpose. If it's just for me to notice, then don't tag me. For example, pictures or videos I don't need to be tagged in. I check through almost every thread created, so I'm going to see it eventually. If you're just being friendly or would like me to respond to something, then go ahead and tag me. I would also like to talk about the report function and lock requests. If you see bad language, the upcoming of a flame war, or spam, please report it. Going "@<name>, @<name>, @<name>, @<name>, or @<name>, please handle this! They are breaking rules!" doesn't help. I mean, it does, but reporting it is way more efficient. For wanting something locked, the easiest way for me to see it would be for you to edit the title and put "[LOCK]" at the beginning. I'll see it, and lock it. Don't tag a bunch of staff online; that will most likely get you warned for tag spam. TL;DR- You can tag me in just about everything.
Ah yes, if you'll let me home in on this? I'd rather prefer a "staff" opinion on this. I can appreciate rules where it's "common sense" but the thing is, if I tag a mayor and they don't want to be tagged, they can't "officially" warn me not to do it again. But if I tag a staff member, and they didn't want to be tagged, they can "officially" warn me not to do it again.
I thought I would throw my two cents in. The tag feature is welcomed to be used on any staff member. It's to be used on Staff just as it would on any normal user of the community. I'm a member too of the community, and I welcome any tagging - to a certain extent. All we ask is that you don't use the tag feature as a "Do your job function", but more as what you would use on any other member of the community. We get to things as soon as we can, as Moderators, and don't need to be pestered about it. The more you bug, the longer we take. Now, if something needs urgent attention, use our report system. These are highlighted bright on a Moderators screen on the forums, and that's the quickest way you can grab our attention over a problem on the forums. I don't mind being tagged, but some do. In specific, you shouldn't be tagging any Main Developers / Andrew / Wewinagain unless a serious issue arises that needs immediate administration attention. Overall, the tagging feature doesn't change for Staff members, we want to be active within the community too. Use it as you would on any other user. The use of the tagging feature should not be used to pester us regarding Ban Appeals, Complaints, Lwc Removals, or Grief Reports - We will get around to them, be patient. If you have an issue on the Forums that needs urgent Moderator attention, use our "Report" feature, and we'll assist you with your problem as soon as possible.
tsk tsk, the first and last paragraph say the same. but yeh, what jets says. Feel free to tag us for normal things.
