Minecraft Name: clou44 Suggestion: I think that Andrew should return the message "No one can hear you!" to local chat when you speak and there is no one nearby. Reason: I just spent about 5 minutes talking to myself in local because the person I was talking to got disconnected, and I had no idea. If this message were here, I would know exactly when they left the chat/server, and not feel like such a derp for talking to myself I expect this message would also make the logs shorter, because people won't be chatting with ghosts in local chat anymore. Any Other Information: I have been told that it was possibly removed because it is similar to the donation "/near" but it really isn't. Yes, this message would let you know that there is no one near you (or that there is at least one person near you when the message does not show), but /near tells you exactly who is near you and how far away they are. This message does not replace /near at all, in my opinion. Link To This Plugin: N/A
I see absolutely no problems with this. It annoyed me to no end when the message vanished so suddenly :/.
How would this work with vanished players? If there's just one player who is vanished nearby me, and I'm talking to them, would I still get that message while conversing with them?
I rage quit one time because of that. I was still a nubby builder who didn't understand chat so I would send messages in local instead of global and that message would come up and I'd be like, " well ____ you too. What do I hafta do to be heard." It really bugged me so tbh I personally wouldn't want to see it back as it would bring forth all these painful, scarring memories of my social awkwardness. Other than that I don't care.
+1 I think having it in the main world only would be wonderful! That way it can't be used as a /near exploit if that is what the issue is.
Pretty sure that the message was set to see if someone was within 500 blocks of you, just like /near, so it wouldn't really affect sg, would it? Are any of the maps bigger than that?
And anyway, we had the message until a few months ago, and I don't recall there ever being a problem with complaints about it being an exploit in sg or nether or anything... I don't think I ever heard it being used for anything but realizing that you are talking to yourself.
+1 I think this is a good idea. I am a habitual /near user, so it wouldn't probably affect me as I /near whenever I tp to my town to see who's around, but I can see how it would benefit non-donators and people who don't use /near as much as myself!
I think it was removed before SG was even added. It definitely wasn't removed "recently". I bet it was remmoved to reduce lag. Every time someone says something in local, it has to calculate the distance of other players to see if anyone is close. Seems like too much for such a small benefit.
+1 for main world only. Talking to yourself is not fun If the message causes server lag, then there is seriously something wrong with the capabilities of the server in my opinion.
Well from playing sg a lot, I doubt that any of the arenas are over 500 blocks.. But either way, I'm +1 for this, I hate when I'm talking to someone only to realize they lagged out or TP'd away.
+1 To prevent it in nether/PVP, simply make it non-PVP areas only. Basically, anywhere /near can be used, allow this command.
