Since it is Essentials complaining about the requirement of alphanumeric characters, I assume this is not possible unless a custom Essentials fork is made... which I don't really think would be worth it considering the amount of work.
Please.... Let's not make chat more messy. Not to mention, this isn't worth the resources to develop as explained by @314 above.
