Minecraft Name: AgentHare Suggestion: Add a new rank in between Resident and Mayor Reason: When you are a builder you see Resident and it's 15k. Then you look beyond that and see mayor for 80k. You're a resident, with probably a small house in the mining world or wild. You probably don't have star tools and you may end up scamming or quitting because Mayor may be too challenging for you. Also, this may extend the experience of a user as they go to Mayor. Any Other Information: Rank would cost 30k-35k The benefit of the rank would be is that you can now make trade signs (moved up from resident) Would be called something similar to Shopkeeper, or other commercial like rank names Would look like: [Resident] --> [Shopkeeper] [Resident] --> [Shopkeeper] [Resident] --> [Shopkeeper] Resident green on the forums
-1 this is a "hardcore" economy server. If they really feel they can play up there with the best of them and are determined they can work to mayor. I don't see how making then pay 120-125k to get mayor will balance them XD instead of making them feel they are closer to obtaining a town they just have to spend another 35k to get the "chance" to rank up to mayor.
This is also a good idea as ranks take money out of the economy. Which would allow more money to come out of the economy.
+1 I honestly feel that the jump between resident to mayor seems like an insurmountable distance. To a new resident Adding another rank in between will pacify users that see mayor as far too far away. Any resident can make a trade sign. Moving this up to Shopkeeper will give them something to work for. This is a hardcore economy server, as turtwig said. Adding another rank would make it more hardcore. Towns are worthless because they are easy to get, and are discarded. Adding more difficulty to obtaining a town would control that supply too.
I would +1, but andrew would have a lot of work putting back all the presidents and all the mayors refunding all of them 145k (because 35k would be taken away due to the rank) for presidents, and 45k for mayors. I like the suggestion, but the implementation of it is the only problem I foresee. Unless nothing happened to the current presidents or mayors, but that would be unfair in my eyes to the residents aiming for mayor that now have to get shopkeeper.
Ok what if instead they added shopkeeper in between builder and resident. Making shopkeeper be 15k and resident be 30-35k. As you get the ability to use trade signs at resident but now instead you get them at shopkeeper and work up to resident from shopkeeper
There is no difference between this and the original suggestion besides the fact that resident and shopkeeper would be switched around... But this also gives the problem that current builders aiming for resident would now have to get shopkeeper then resident, making a few or even a lot leave and stop trying.
This raises a good point. A "hardcore" economy should still be a fair one. Not only will he have to refund them but that means current mayors and presidents get cheaper towns then the newer players. If this was implemented Id like to see a larger line between shopkeeper and resident perk wise. For example I believe res is too early for someone to become co-mayor 15k on this server is not that hard to make, and then they can be in charge of a town? I don't think that should be a perk easily obtained. The rank before mayor should give the ability to make that person a co-mayor to give them a feel of managing a town.
Its not different no. But it keeps it from causing trouble with the people who are already resident. And no matter what a builder would still be saving 15k if the rank is shopkeeper or resident. So it doesn't affect any builder whatsoever
Keep in mind this means in the end they pay more 35k more to get to mayor than they normally would have.
Before resident-15k mayor-85k Total= 100k to get mayor After resident-15 shopkeeper-35k mayor-85k Total=135k to get mayor I don't see how this will be helpful. Every mayor+ will have to pay the server 35k for their towns.
It makes the economy more hardcore while it looks less daunting. We don't necessarily have to have all mayors pay 35k.
If you are arguing that this is a fair economy, you are again, mistaken. When star tools went up to 1500 stars, did current star tool users get 500 stars deducted from them? no! How about when melons were nerfed from $2 a piece to $1.65 a piece. Did Andrew go through every melon sold and deduct the $.35 from everyone's balances? nope. If you got your melon sword before the prices went up, you were good. If you sold your melons before the farming nerf you were good. If you got to pres before this rank, then you are good. Don't worry about it. Everything is fair
I get the feeling some people think adding a rank inbetween resident and mayor would mean everyone who's already a mayor would have to pay the 35k as well, despite already having mayor. This change would NOT affect anyone who's already a mayor or higher. As for the actual change, I like it. It's a more gradual step up from resident, considering resident was 20k and mayor was like 50k when I first joined the server. Now it's 15 and 85k. It's quite a step up and can look very daunting. I know that if I saw the rank at 85k instead of 50k at the time I would leave, considering it took me over a week to get resident. (Yes, I'm slow, I know) Not to mention it would be an extra rank that people would want and pay for. Meaning A LOT more money out of the economy. I do think it might need a little bit more than tradesigns though, maybe more LWC locks?
Continuing off of the extra perks that @kukelekuuk00 suggested, the new rank could receive 200 LWC locks so that it could be a middle ground between the 100 for resident and 300 for mayor. However I'm not in favor of making players pay more for the ability to create trade signs, since that is a necessity in any economic environment.
