Minecraft Name: AgentHare Suggestion: Adding the plugin new player spotlight to ECC Reason: I feel like if everyone is notified that a new player has arrived, everyone would give a warm welcome and the player could stay. The nicer the welcome you get the more you like the server! Any Other Information: It's not included but if new player messages are too annoying for people, perhaps we could have a command that turns off the notifiers for that specific person. This was something on the server a while back - long before it was as popular as it is now - and it was far too spammy. People were also making a contest out of it, to see who would welcome new users first. In the end, it wasn't so much about being friendly as it was about being "first!" :/ Server is much larger nowadays with far more users joining on average, so I don't think it would work out very well. Even with a command to turn it off (might be added to Donators for leaving channels or something), everyone would just turn it off and it would defeat the purpose.
I have to agree with Moofin, honestly, I can see this working on a server that is alot smaller and has a few players joining per day, in the background, I think the number of new players a day reaches up to over 100 per day(don't take my word on this I have absolutely no clue) but the point is that there are too many new players. It obviously caused a problem on ECC so maybe its best to just leave that be.
This was on when I first played during December 2011, and I think it was disabled a few months after for the reason of spamming up chat. We get far more users now per day, and this would be even more spammy. I am sorry but I am against this being added.
