Minecraft Name: AgentHare Suggestion: Change the necro rule depending on the purpose of the thread, the relevance to the present time and the forum. Reason: I will be breaking down what I think would meet the following criteria. Purpose of the Thread: How much _______ have you had? What is your max ______? Post your computer specs! How many _______ do you have? Basically any questionaire type thread that has relevance to the present, leading us into the next idea. Relevance to the Present: Anything that could apply to today. The Forum: This is simple, basically if someone were to bump it every month and people contribute, will it spam the first page? Does it need to be there? This would be bad if it was in general, suggestions, etc. Example of a thread that shouldn't have been considered necro: http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/what-is-the-most-amount-of-money-youve-ever-had.62880/
Due to edit post being incredibly derpy, a continuation: Mods, when deciding if its necro or not should go through this criteria: When was the last post? What is the thread asking, what is the purpose? Does it still apply? Would it spam the first page? I'm not asking for posts to be able to be necro'd from 2012, no no, I'm asking for about another month or two leeway for these type of threads.
Btw i purposley did that to troll already bypassig server rules... i like cheese-not just any cheese chilli cheese
O wait that was not entirely troll but no that is necro terrible suggestion -1 i like cheese-not just any cheese chilli cheese
The thread you linked has been inactive since Oct. 1 even if relevant, the thread also was a question that needed an answer and wasn't initially a thread for discussion. If it had been a suggestion or actual discussion on the topic then it would have been left open.
Sorry linked wrong thread >.> http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/what-is-the-most-amount-of-money-youve-ever-had.62880/
They already go through this somewhat. Like this speed test thread was recently necro'd from 2011 but allowed because it still applies. As long as the thread stayed/stays to their original purpose the entire time I don't see a point in locking them, however I agree with locking in cases like your example because the conversation had gotten off the initial topic before it died. EDIT (RE: Actual Link) I agree with you on that one.
Staff already consider those things when deciding on if a necro'd thread should be locked or not. Sometimes it is obviously a nerco (meets none of the criteria stated in the rules), but when we are not sure, we ask other Staff the questions you brought up. However, I agree on the notion to bump up the time from two weeks to one month, and specifically mention in the rules that some sections (suggestions, help, economy, etc) can have more leniency so long as a thread of the same topic, that is newer, is not already closer to the first page.
