Minecraft Name: AgentHare Suggestion: To only lock for necro where it actually matters. Reason: Some threads are getting locked for necro on some of the most inactive forums, where the threads are on the first page anyway. This is obvious in places like the rank forums, especially in the President+ section. It is ridiculous to even consider these necros, and even then especially locking them or warning people not to necro it when it was on the front page. Any Other Information: I already suggested this before but I was assured this was already happening, but clearly not.
+1 and -1 The goal of locking threads due to necros is to prevent action within the thread after the discussion is already over. If a post is still relevant and here is valuable information that can be added, I strongly encourage bumping a thread. In the presidents+ section, not much is happening so I don't see a need as to why threads should be necroed. Anyway, if you'd like to know why a thread was locked because of a necro, PM a moderator and ask them about it. I'm sure they'll explain the reasoning to you.
Sort of a +1 from me. What annoys me is that I have noticed that different mods handle different "necroes" differently. Some mods say that it can be bumped if it is still relevant and then I also see other mods lock threads that still seem relevant. I also don't see how a forum game could be considered a necro. How is a forum game going to be less relevant that before just because it hasn't been posted on in over 2 weeks? All this does is convinces another user to make the same forum game so now we have a bunch of the same forum game locked for necro.
+1. Some of my threads have been necro'd and locked. However, they were still relevant. And according to the rules, if a thread is relevant, it is not a necro / does not deserve and instant lock. I've noticed this being ignored a lot.
As I've seen a lot of cases of unnecessary locking within the suggestions forum, I shall once again +1 this idea. I don't know if this is still the case, but ALL reasonable suggestions are meant to remain unlocked as they are all relevant. I do not intend to tell mods how to do their jobs, but even if a suggestion is necroed, you are still obligated as a staff member to not lock the suggestion, but you can forum warn the user who necroed it, if applicable (IMO it would only be necessary to warn if the user spam necroed many suggestions). But still no locking is necessary. Anyway, that's my opinion on this topic, and I hope this goes into effect. I would also like to add that I am a former staff member and this was how necroing within the suggestion/help and support forum was handled when I was a moderator.
