I do not fully understand the mechanics of ECC nor how hard or simple this suggestion would be I would just like to put it out there. I think giving people the option to change their town name (maybe for a fee?) would be terrific. There may be people who bought a town from someone else and does not like the name or maybe someone made a town and would now like it changed to something else. Hello, Well I know we used to have the ability to do this. Here is my thought, sorry if there are errors, I'm on a road trip. First and foremost, it would likely not be possible to change the name a town you bought off another player. Why? Currently, and as far as I know, it has always been that only the original town owner can file for any changes to the town. Things like making town features, moving them, deleting them, etc, is restricted to the person who originally bought the town from the server. Now, understanding that, I have no idea why we couldn't simply change the towns name if the original owner requested it in the same way we can move or delete a feature for a price, we should be able to change our town name. I agree with this post, and what revan said: I think there should be a "town-feature" in the same category as a portal, or a pvp arena, etc. - original owner has to apply, for a specific cost (5k-20k), and it's a "Town Name Change" fee. I've never gotten around to making the suggestion, but I'm glad you did. +1
This has been suggested over and over, and has been denied over and over. As far as i'm aware, if we wish to allow the changing of region names, you would have to delete the region, and recreate it with the new name. This could just cause complications, and would take a lot of time to handle the applications for the name change.
And if I'm thinking correct, wouldn't this remove all of the members/co mayors (I'm 99% they re-added the original mayor xD)
Then just make it a really high fee. And if the person really really wants it, they'll just have to put up with a huge fee, and members being removed.
I dont think u should be able to change the name of your town. I think this is a bad idea because being able to change your town name would be a fuss to andrewkm because they would have to hastle with all the codings and it would just be very annoying for them to do. Also, this is a hardcore economy server, u have to make the right choices, therefore naming your town with the best name u would for you.
I see you haven't fiddled with the plug-in in question. There isn't any coding involved. It would be a small fuss, but nothing big. That's why the application has a large price tag.
What if you bought the town off someone else and rather have a name you made up and don't want the name they named the town?
Then I think you should have to go through the fuss of losing all the residents if you wanted the name changed that badly.
You should not be able to change the name of a town someone else made. That is just how it is. That person may want their town back some day and according to the server town sales aren't official. Therefore in a way, the original owner of every town still owns it. That's like borrowing someones car and then giving it a new paint job. I will admit, even I have towns I don't like the name of ie: Discoville. People keep thinking there is a party there.... its a farm. Despite that, I still don't think it would be something andrew would even consider. He has only ever legally allowed original owners to make major town changes, I don't see why this would be any different. Revanrose6
Okay okay, your right, you shouldn't be able to change other people town's names. But really, at least having the option to change your town should be added.
That kind of gets under my skin that if I bought a town permantly off someone for a crap load of money you guys are saying they are able to get it back? So you are allowing scamming to go on, on something that cost a ton to purchase and a lot of hard work. This as an hardcore economy server meaning everything should be able to be up for sale not just certain things.
Luckily with the new contract system all you need is a well worded contract to ensure the town stays yours.

I seriously hope so but mods have been telling me otherwise so I don't think so. I been told that Andrew does not agree with people selling towns anyway which is why you can't get features for a town only original owner. Also if Andrew does noty agree with buying towns off regular players then he should just make it a rule instead of letting people be scammed.
Changing region names has to be done on the database level. On a personal 08R2 server I've done it with a scheduled batch file to pop open the CSV and change a queued list of previous region ID to their respective new region ID in all found instances every hour, but this ends up being a tedious process due to the whole idea of using CSV files to host this kind of database. It also makes WorldGuard scream in pain and agony, as SK loves to make his plugins so compatible. So yeah, can't be done without intrusive actions or an API rewrite.
