    Reenable PvP in the mining world and bring back the risk factor of a "hardcore economy".

    So now here we are… stuck in an economy that is quickly heading in the wrong direction. I can already hear the responses in my head. Raise melon prices, remove /sell hand on certain items, remove xp from mining, etc. The simple fact is that there is no simple way to fix it. It would require a complete overhaul of some features, removal of certain in game items that many would not want to give up, and possibly drive new members away. So since you made it through all that, here is my suggestion so to speak… I ask you read with an open mind.

    1st we must accept the fact that ECC was originally setup to be a “hard economy”. Every Eco$ was earned through some form of a risk factor. As a builder you had to venture out into the wild to forge a living with a constant fear of others lurking about ready to pounce on you at any moment and take everything you mined. It was this excitement that immediately captured my interest and made me an ECCer for life. When the original mining world was created it also brought a huge risk factor with huge reward. It brought with it the need to form clans to protect each other and drove both XP and ores to a valued investment. We saw some of the best (at least for ECC anyway) Pvp battles, amazing stories, and an economy that was stable. Why? Well it’s simple... People who didn’t want to deal with PvP and the risks of mining and farming XP found other ways of obtaining income. Some bought and sold from the risk takers, some came up with fun ideas (Bgies famous siggys), and others kept to farming. All created stability to the different market systems and in a way kept things in harmony. It wasn’t perfect, by any means, but it worked.

    That is why we need to bring back a risk factor… Every single eco$ must have some form of a risk attached to it. And if there isn’t a risk factor, then it must still require a lot of thought, time, and effort to achieve. Currently the only real risk on the server is lotto, although the reward far out ways the risk.

    So how do we bring back the risk factor you say? Well get ready…. Yes you are correct. We must make the mining world a PvP environment again. Now… I know that may drive people away from the server… But I would say they weren’t meant to be here to begin with and maybe the excitement is what will keep them here and the rewarding feeling of accomplishment will drive them to never leave. Another reason is that the main worlds would be destroyed. That is why I would propose some tweaks.

    1. The wild would remain non-PvP. The worlds are huge and if you look the changes made really didn’t change anything in regards to the wild. People are still mining there and grief is everywhere. The great thing is the worlds are huge now, so it looks like less.

    2. The mining and nether worlds would be PvP environments and be Res+ only (builders can farm, mine in main worlds, or by plots). There would be warp signs that users could use to be warped to random areas to prevent stalkers from trolling spawn for anyone afraid of walking into an ambush.

    3. Some have suggested we increase the output of XP/Ores to create an incentive. That may be an idea, but remember our goal is to make these markets as rare as possible. XP in a sense really controls all other markets with the exception of Nether Stars. It would need to be monitored closely and managed.

    4. We need to look at the current enchanting system and determine a better solution. That in itself is a whole other suggestion, but it really needs to be revisited. It would work as it is, but it’s just not as fun L.

    Again we cannot create a perfect world and make everyone happy. I understand that it cost money to manage ECC and the more users the better. All I would say is it didn’t really work so to speak. All that was accomplished was a stagnant economy with little or no excitement. By bringing back PvP we have a chance to…

    1. Increase the demand of XP, ores, and in turn drive the value of other markets (PVP Armor, Max tools, star tools/armor, etc)

    2. Create some excitement and possibly bring back a PvP element to ECC that may include the return of clan forming.

    3. We could see the return of other valuable markets (Real estate, Farming, creative ideas/concepts, etc.)

    So here we are again… back to the same burning issue that has been discussed more than anything else in the past 2 years. We can continue to ignore/dismiss it for whatever reasons, or we can finally embrace it and figure out a way to make it work. To be honest, it can’t be any worse then what we have now and if it is well then we can always go back. It is worth a try.

    I would love pvp to be back in the mining world, however I do wonder what would happen to the main worlds when people decide the mining world is too dangerous. If someone just wants diamonds and not xp they are just gonna go mining in the main world. Do you remember to old wild warp gates we had? They were trashed after barely a month of them being in that location.

    I dont think mining world pvp would be good at all i use to mine in the main world because of that Its a mining world not a pvp world-1

    Yes. There isn't going to be a perfect solution here. A lot of it was grief though.. you don't find diamonds on the surface. The main worlds is a much bigger place now too so there is plenty of places to mine and farm if they want. Diamonds are not my concern anyway. XP is where the issue remains.

    This is just as much about the economy as it is about PvP. There needs to be something that impacts and drives the economy. Right now there is really nothing. It was proven once that PvP was a major driver. I agree with your suggestion as well, however it won't change the economy. It just gives a other option for people to pvp. I'm trying to find a way to stimulate the economy and provide the excitement of pvp as well.

    Pros - People having fun, lots of xp, etc
    CONS: People with Diamond armor waiting to kill people at spawn, ive seen this happen before.

    Honestly, when they got rid of PvP in the mining, I was happy because I didn't have people always tracking me and I can go freely. But after just a few weeks, I saw that it was boring and would be better with PvP. I believe it needs to be implemented again +1

    I miss the old makeshift pvp arenas. +1

    Also this would be more incentive to get fly+, pyro+, and investigator/vanish! (Yes, you can still allow these... the nether does yet it is still pvp) and if you're worried about people flying down and killing you it's illegal in the nether, so it will probably be the same in the mining world should this be implemented

    There was no fly+ beforehand :p
    It's only been added since pvp was removed.
    That's why people went crazy when a fly bug was found.

    I see good points on both sides of the issue. Here is my perspective I don't do SG or any PVP I am not good at it and it doesn't interest me. So I would be a sitting duck and lose all my stuff all the time. I would quit mining so I wouldn't have access to xp unless I buy it. So I can farm all the time which we all no gets a bit boring after a while. I mix it up half farming half mining. It would probably drive me away after a while probably along with others. They probably took away pvp in mining area to attract more people. I think you would have a lopsided economy super rich people who are good at pvp and the rest of us scratching out a living with farming and some main world mining but no xp. I could be way off on my thoughts but maybe not. More people equals more money possible in server donations. I am sure it isn't cheap to run this. Time and money. I play world of Warcraft so I get my fill of pvp there, at least there you don't lose everything. I am sure everyone posting is an amazing pvp'er so it's a winner in your eyes. I will try it if it gets implemented and see how it goes if it isn't worthwhile I will move on. Thanks for taking the time to read my perspective as I enjoyed reading everyone else's.
