Sorry I couldn't get the correct format as I'm writing this on my phone and I don't know how to copy and paste with it. So, my previous idea was just seeing if we could get donation scam money back. But now I have an idea that is seemingly flawless! My idea is a reserve balance with the command /pay (username) ($) donations. This money will go into a reserved balance that will remain there for 3+ days or until the user types /pay (username) reserve if they get the features however if they do not receive the features they may type /pay (username) postpone. This will add an additional week where admins and mods may check complaints and figure out what is going on. If it proves to be a scam then the money is added back into the initial owners hands. If a user postpones the reserve with getting the features then this user will be banned or punished With whatever punishment necessary and the mods will be able to immediately place this reserve into the users account balance if this happens. A user May see this reserve balance with command /bal r. This idea will make it so no new money will be added to the economy and scammed users will get there money back. +1 if you like this idea +2 if you think I should get my 410k back from a scammer because of this awesome idea :3 Also post any flaws if you find them so I can keep improving this idea so noone will be scammed out of mass amounts of money anymore!
I don't like this idea, my best suggestion is the following: We don't need a command, we need people to not donate too people who they don't trust.
"OMG he told me to just pay him now and it'd all be alright!" A system like this isn't going to stop people from being silly, it would simply give the smart ones another tool to not get scammed. People will still pay directly for their donation features because the person -seems- reputable, and there's nothing that can really be done about such a notion, cause half the scam is gaining the trust then breaking it. I both blame and don't blame victims for getting scammed. Yes, the person seemed reputable and they thought it would go through and I feel bad for them, but they're really putting all their eggs in one basket by paying upfront for features, not asking about the person's donation history, not asking for references from multiple people, not checking around in this thread (which people who are getting successful donations from others should be kind in updating, and reputable donators should be asking their clients to put their names in there.) Donations features are the perfect scam, because it's not a scam that's immediately noticable. You will not know until Andrew's processed the donations once or twice whether you've been scammed, so there's time for them to try to stash away the money. As long as scamming exists, there will always be ways to exploit people, but with a little common sense it's not hard not to get scammed..
This idea was not made to prevent scamming however it's made to lower scamming and help get money back if it's been lost as it won't be injecting any money. Jetcat can you tell me more about why you don't like this idea? It sounds like you're just stating you don't like it but there isn't a reason supporting this. Also think about it this way. If you only donate to the few that always sell them then you will have to pay more and wait until one gets on. Also this limits the seller so noone else could sell features for money since you only want to pay the few trusted members who aren't going to have money forever. There is no downside to this feature, all it could do Is help.
Don't pay up front doesn't work either, because then the person doing the donating is out real money if the other person doesn't pay as well. Donate for yourself if your worried about losing your Eco$, or at least understand the risks and investigate who your trusting with your money. RagMan
Just trying to help :/, i'm not really on the situation any more i'm trying to prevent it from happening again.
